Absolutely nuts...

img_9314Is what I am!  I spent this morning up until noon outside working again.  There's still so much to get done!  I fertilized the raised beds in the garden area, because the soil mix is new and doesn't have enough compost in it... watered and weeded all the beds, and transplanted some more seedlings I have in pots.  I've a long ways to go over here, but it's coming around.  Here's what it looks like from my sewing room window.

When we're finished driving the tractor over here, I'm going to tear up the little remaining "grass" (hahaha) and reseed it with real grass.

Then I finished moving the last of the logs and branches out of the orchard area, was finally able to mow where it had been growing up around them.  Ugh.  I was going to call it quits then, but then I realized this weekend would be my last chance to use the clearing to burn all those boxes that we had in the Featherlite trailer, because they're digging the footings and pouring the pad for the shop starting Monday... and while I was watching the fire (do you know how insanely hot a big fire is when it's already ninety degrees out?) I noticed that here and there, partly buried in the ground where the shop pad is going, were some rocks that I could use to continue around my borders.... so I hauled all those down and managed to get another 15 feet or so around the garden area.

img_9312Here's another tip for my fellow Bernina 830 owners.  For easy oiling of the bobbin race, turn the handwheel the opposite direction so that the hook swings part way out.  That makes it very easy to get the oil back far enough and not make a mess.  See that gold area where the arrow is pointing to?  Put a drop there.

I'm tired reading everything you have been doing. I'm staying inside with the A/C on. Going to be above 100 today and until ....... Summer is here...

Oh my word - someone else who "loves" yardwork!!! Your post is terrific...we should have all our shovels, pitchforks and lawn equipment bronzed when this summer is over.
By the way - how do you like your Cedar Creek? We hope to move up to a 5th wheel.
Have added you to my Favorites - love your blog site!

Yeah... it went over a hundred here today too Carolyn, way too freaking hot!

For a mid priced unit the CedarCreek has been wonderful, we lived in ours for 4 solid years. I have no complaints at all. But I am VERY glad to be in a house again, LOL. I think more for the yard though, gosh we missed doing yard stuff!

Your bobbin tension is set where mine is for embroidery. When I sew regular, my "white dot" is about 3-4 clicks to the right....different machines...

or I should say, the silver dot...

I hear ya on the heat -- I worked in the yard from about 6:30 am to 11 both Sat and Sun and I looked like a fried lobster when I came in. Not sunburn -- but when I get hot my face turns beet red. I think I stood under a cold shower for 10 minutes. Be careful out there!

You're probably like me and sweat very little Janice... which makes us prone to overheating FAST!

Oh is that the problem, I get really red in the face too! About the only place that I really develop sweat is on my face, my nose is usually the first thing to sweat. I think I might have been a dog in a former life! LOL

Be careful, don't get heat stroke!

That's a great picture looking down on your beds. Sure gives us a great perspective.

In my 30's I had my own home and a decent size yard -- It was just neatly mowed..weeds. lol It just takes about 1 season or so to turn it around with those lawn products from Lowes or Home Depot. I never understood it back then. Good luck with yours -- I'm sure you'll get it looking like you want soon. I mean anyone who can tackle orchards, hauling logs, spreading mountains of mulch -- Heck getting good grass has to be a piece of cake - eh? giggle

LOL we shall see Lucy. Having never lived in town really (once briefly) I've always had a yard full of carefully mowed pasture!
