30 hour days would be nice!

How is it that I don't have a job and I never seem to have any free time? I've been trying to read the same book for a month from the library, I finally gave up and returned it, then went out and bought a copy because they wouldn't let me keep renewing my check out! Good thing too, since I dropped it in the bath tub yesterday. :-D
This morning I caught up on laundry, which was a bit more than usual as I dumped a glass of wine (red of course) on the carpet in my sewing room, managed to get it all over my ironing board too, and went through some towels getting it cleaned up. Fortunately it all came up, even thought I'm out of white wine (which is the best thing for cleaning red wine!) but made me realize I need to make a trip up north for white wine (it sucks living in a dry county).
Off to the farm center to get treated oak posts for the grapes, which are getting planted this weekend no matter what! I also stopped at the store and decided to replenish my supply of salmon and white chocolate chips, so out came the vacuum sealer.
The chocolate I vac seal into jars like I do most everything else in my pantry, from raisins to sugar to beans and rice. It works very well and the lack of air in the jars extends the storage life for a very long time.
Salmon I just seal into bags and toss into the freezer. I also picked up some country style ribs (generally we prefer baby-backs, but hadn't had these in awhile) to smoke for dinner and thought I'd make macaroni and cheese (also great on the smoker!) and corn.
I think I'm going to scrap the wall-hanging project.
I should have fused the canvas to fusible fleece before embroidering, but since I didn't have a plan for anything outside of the embroidery area yet, I didn't. Too much puckering going on here for a wall-hanging. It would quilt out, but that isn't the look I was after. I don't think I'll even bother to remove the basting here or press the piece. I was going to embroider the butterfly and single flower in the opposite direction (flipped and upside down) on the other side. But, it's just not working for me.

You'll find what works for you.
You'll come up with something, I'm sure.
How about quilting it and making it into a pillow or cushion? It is gorgeous and your right, the puckers would quilt out. Seems a shame to throw it away. I could see it as a long, round bolster pillow. Just a thought. :~)
Hmmm... maybe I'll just set it aside for now and see if something comes to mind later. I'd like to do some nice towels for my son and his soon to be wife, I have a new embossed monogram I'd like to try out on an old towel first.
I'm tossing around quilt ideas, but I'm not really sure of their colors yet, other than... "they aren't mine"! and you know how that goes... sigh...
What do you use to get wine stains up?
We recently spilled red wine on our off white carpeting and panic broke out. No, not a tipsy couple, just clumbsy and a bit on the old side. Charlies Soap came to our rescue.
If you are not familiar with their products,
here they are: http://www.charliesoap.com. My friends and I are very impressed with their two products. That reminds me that spring and cleaning days are coming soon.
Happy days.
I wouldn't use anything but Charlie's Soap for my laundry, I love the stuff! A 5 gallon bucket lasts me a bit over a year.
White wine will remove a red wine stain if it's fresh. Vinegar probably will too.
What vacuum sealer are you using? I'm not quite following how you seal the jars? Have fun in the garden. The weather is glorious here and we're planting our spring garden now. Potatoes, onions, garlic and carrots are in now. I'd like to do more berries but we're so dry and hot here.

I use this one Hilary:

See the jar attachment (white plastic lid thingie) on the jar? It has a hose that plugs into the sealer, and it sucks all the air out of the jar. You simply put a canning lid (no ring, just the lid) on first, and it seals up.
What are you reading? If you figure out how to get 30 hours in your day, will you get it for me too? And, can we give up sleep? Such a waste of time but I can't function without sleep.
I for one think you need to start your own private little winery! A friend of my brothers does this and makes the most wonder berry and grape wine I have ever tasted. He can't sell it as that would open up a huge can of worms but he sure can give it away as he doesn't drink much himself. I just wish I were better friends with he and his wife!!
CJ and Barbara...Do you ladies use the powdered Charlies soap or the liquid? Have you tried the spray cleaner? Can you find these products anywhere buy online? TIA

I use the powdered soap in 5 gallon buckets. I have the spray cleaner as well. I buy mine online direct from http://www.charliesoap.com/orderNow.asp
You are right - that embroidery is just not gonna work - send it to me and I will find a use for it! Ha! Luv your blog - terribly jealous of the new machine - enjoy!
