The wall hanging "plan"

img_8242.jpgI think I have the stitching details/bugs all worked out, and after Louis (friend of Jim's from work) delivered 2 loads (29 tons) of gravel this morning, I came upstairs and cut the canvas that I'll be using for the back ground for the wall hanging.  The "plan" (that nasty, dirty word!) is to make this for the wall above the headboard in our bedroom.  The colors match my teddy bears and a silk rose arrangement I have in there.

This is the center medallion in Jenny Haskins' Summer Wine quilt.  It measures 23 inches by 42 inches, so just this section alone is a ton of embroidery and applique work.  I don't really know yet how I plan to border it.  First we'll see if the panel turns out, and if I like it (or haven't given up) then I'll decide what will look good for the borders.  I may hate the effect on canvas!  I wanted to do this on linen, but the linens distorts so easily I decided for a wall hanging perhaps it wasn't the best choice.

That's such a pretty design. It should make a lovely wall hanging.

I can't wait to see what you end up doing with this. I love Jenny Haskins designs, but never seem to have time to sew/embroider anything, so I'll have to live vicariously through you. --Billie

I don't have near the experience at embroidery but if you really want to use linen -- could you use the canvas as your stabilizer and spray adhesive the linen to it. Just a crazy thought :)

WOW!!! That is gorgeous! This is going to be beautiful! You are so ambitious with your embroidery. One of my favorite things that you have done, is still the headboard in the RV. If anyone can do this, it will be you!

It will take me a couple of days to get it all laid out in the software, then do all the splits. I forgot how time consuming this step was!

Vail... actually I could have (doh!) fused the linen to fusible fleece, that would have worked just fine. Oh well!

Cindy.... ain't it the truth!

Julia... I'm going to redo that headboard. When it warms up enough for me to be out in the RV all day without running the furnace, I'll start the remodel in there. It's going to be very similar to the house actually, I bought the same comforter for the bed in there that I did for the house!

CJ - In your test stitchouts of the Summer Wine designs, did you have any unexpected weird things happen like some of us did with the Aquamarine Ambience designs such as underlayment stitching on top of satin stitches etc?? I think the Summer Wine designs are so pretty, but the odd things that happened with the Ambience designs kind of scared me off Jenny Haskins designs. Claudia

Claudia... I too thought it was Jenny's designs at first, but it isn't. It's our software. You'll find that happens quite often if you use the mirror merge or kaleidoscope tools. If you simple cut and paste and align your motifs manually, that will not happen. It's very disappointing that Bernina has not dealt with this issue yet... the software has been out for what, 3 years?
