Closet disorder

img_8239.jpgThere's something wrong with all the closets in our house.  Not a single one of them has room for things that belong in them, like clothes, linens, towels...  Well our bedroom closet, which fortunately is huge, is half devoted to clothing.  Otherwise, all the closets, and under the bathroom sinks in our house, look like this.

I've let this one empty out a bit... time for me to restock it.  This is something I used to do on the farm, because a decent grocery store was an hour away, and so I only went grocery shopping once every month or so.  Obviously I keep far more than a month's supply of our favorite stuff on hand, but also, I keep some of almost everything, because I love to cook and I hate it when a recipe calls for something I don't have!

Do I have a closet disorder? :)

img_8241.jpgHere's my test stitch out of one of the motifs with the colors I've decided on for the wall hanging.  I had puckers with the first test, so switched to a heavier weight stabilizer and starched the canvas.  Not a perfect stitch out though, I don't know if it's the design or a needle size issue or maybe I need a topping...

Next is the applique test, using the felt.  I originally bought the black faux suede I've been using on the sewing machine covers for this project, but it sheds and shreds some fierce, and left the edges of the applique looking like "pokie hell"!

The colors look great, the puckers don't show on the pic.
I think you must get more done in one day than I do in a month.

I got the puckers worked out, had to change stabilizer and starch the fabric. Next was to drop the needle size down to a 75 (weird I know, it's heavy weight canvas) but that made it look much better, no more fabric showing through the stitches.

Closets and organizing, BLEH!!!!!! That is what I have been doing for the past 3 hours in my sewing room. I am not quite finished yet, but I am headed to the shower, then I am going to plop my butt down on the couch and read for awhile before falling into bed!

Your stitch out looks great. This is going to be gorgeous!

I cannot remember, what's the wall hanging all about, what room/wall will this newest creation be for? Yet another senior moment for me....

Your closet needs restocking? It looks pretty FULL to me!

Love that design CJ. I seriously need to try my embroidery module sometime.

Lucy - watch out - once you start, you may become hooked.

When I first purchased my machines with the embroidery modules, I thought I needed to embroider everything that I sewed. AH - I have since changed my way of thinking. Yes, I still love to use embroidery on projects but I do love to get back to "basic sewing", my original love and passion.

So - what do I have plans on making next? An embroidered heart doily...LOL

Lucy... my dream house would have a spare "bedroom" sized pantry in it. LOL
