Lace yardage

img_8400.jpgLook what I found when I cleaned out the sewing room closet!  Some of you may remember when I machine embroidered all 50 inches of this Zundt lace.  For the life of me I couldn't remember where it had gone, so I'm glad to have unearthed it again!  Maybe I can figure out something to use it on.  It's already been machine washed and dried and held up beautifully, so I've no fear of adding it to something.  I stitched it out with Isacord thread.

img_8401.jpgHere's a closer image (sorry it's a bit blurry).  I combined the small design into as many as would fit into my mega hoop, then connected each segment by hooping a new piece of Badgemaster and stitching out the underlayment stitches for the next segment, , then placing the first segment over that at the matching end, and starting the new segment over... making  a perfect join that's undetectable.

Yes, I remember when you made this. I am so glad that you found it too! Do you have any ideas as to what you are going to use it on? It is beautiful!

Not a clue Julia. Didn't then and still don't! I'm not much of a lace kind girl, but it was sure cool to make. Someday, I will come up with something to attach this lace too because I want to use it!

Beautiful! We have lace like that on the bottom of our main bathroom curtains at the Squash House - I'm thinking of trying to find a shower curtain to match - but, hey - I have an 630 that embroiders - thanks for the great idea, CJ!
Cheers!

The lace looks great, CJ. You used Isacord in the bobbin, too? When you washed it, did you put it in a mesh bag? I wonder how it would look on Osteberg (sp) fabric, although right now I'm thinking maybe the same color lace as the fabric - beigy. Thanks for the great tip on how to match it up when you rehoop. Speaking of Osteberg (again sp) do you wash and dry yours before using? I know you buy it buy the bolt....how much do you wash at one time? Besides all these millions of questions, also wanted to say you have great organizational skills!! I am psyched to get my sewing room clean and organized this year - was giving myself the month of January, but, now I'm giving myself until the end of February - life keeps getting in the way - although, I know I would be more productive sewing in an organized space. Thanks for the motivation.

Yes, Isacord in the bobbin too. Nope, I didn't use a mesh bag. I just tossed it in with the regular wash. Yes, I definitely wash my Osnaburg before using, it shrinks up like flannel! But oh when it does, it's just beautiful! I generally get it on 25 yard bolts.

OMG, I love thie lace, but then lacy is kinda my thing. I've not tried to embroider it yet. My FSL designs came from embroidery library and I'm not to pleased with the appearance. I may look at Zundt Lace. I would love to have it on black towels for the guest bath or on the bottom of flannel PJ's would work for me too. Thank you for sharing.

CJ, Where do you order the large spools of the Isacord thread? I thought I had saved it but can't find it now.
Thanks.
