Splash!

I have to tell you, I really struggled with what to quilt my baby quilt with. (I struggle with every quilt!) At first, I’d planned to fill the large white centers with applique or embroidery. But when I saw the quilt with the borders on, I knew I didn’t want to compete with them, they make the quilt!
Then I thought I might make this into a wallhanging for my sewing room, and
contemplated custom quilting it. Several people wrote me and suggested feather wreaths in the white centers, but that’s really not my taste. Funny, I love traditional piecing, but I’m not overly keen on that “heirloom quilting” look. And I truly do love the look of edge to edge quilting!
I loaded it up on my frame, played with stencils, played around with “air tracing” (that’s kind of like playing an air guitar, but it’s “air quilting” instead, hahaha!) some of my Quiltazoid templates… dug through all my pantos (ordered a handful of new ones… and finally settled on “Splash” by Jodi Beamish.
I’ve only used this panto once before, when I made my new grandson (he came into the family at the age of 7) a quilt for Christmas last year. I really like it then, and loved it even more on this quilt.
I’d hoped to get this quilted and bound today, as I’ll be gone all day tomorrow and most of Thursday as well, but it didn’t happen!
Make sure to check out my pantograph library, for new additions!
