When I’m not quilting, you can find me either out in the garden or in the kitchen!

“The chief beauty about time is that you cannot waste it in advance. The next year, the next day, the next hour are lying ready for you, as perfect, as unspoiled, as if you had never wasted or misapplied a single moment in all your life. You can turn over a new leaf every hour if you choose.” - Arnold Bennett

Scraps organization

After all that whining and complaining about the Simply Sophisticated BOM, I decided I didn’t like it well enough to spend any more money on it replacing the setting triangles, so I’m just using the included fabrics and I will find the quilt another home.  I hope to finish it within a week or two and get it out of my UFO stack!

In yesterday’s mail some new patterns that I’d ordered arrived.  My turtle pincushion for the guild project, a couple Schnibbles patterns that I couldn’t resist after seeing Cindy’s creations, another Melly & Me pattern (remember their adorable Magoo Monkey?) but in sheep!  Being a former sheep farmer, I love anything sheep!

The Backyard Circus pattern on the far left was one I thought might be fun to incorporate embroidery into, on the white sashing.

Having recently spread my sewing room into the 2nd adjoining bedroom and claiming some creative space, I now want to organize my scrap stash better.  For this I looked to the Queen of Scrap Quilting, Bonnie Hunter.

I already have my scraps sorted in plastic bins by colors, but they’re just tossed willy nilly in the bins.  Bonnie cuts hers up before sorting them, and I’m going to make it a project for 2010 to do the same.

I’ve ordered both of her books, and I am really looking forward to some scrap quilts!

Anyone want to come help?  LOL
