“The chief beauty about time is that you cannot waste it in advance. The next year, the next day, the next hour are lying ready for you, as perfect, as unspoiled, as if you had never wasted or misapplied a single moment in all your life. You can turn over a new leaf every hour if you choose.” - Arnold Bennett

Pinwheel Party Block Six

I finished block six for the Pinwheel Party this morning.  One of my blocks wasn’t too perfect, and so I decided to take advantage of that by doing a video demonstration on how to correct that with the Bernina Dual Feed.

Here’s another table runner, same pattern as before, cut on the AccuQuilt Studio.  This one is for me, I still keep finding bits and pieces of Moda Chocolat in my stash!

And last but not least for the day, another in the hoop cosmetic bag for my sister.

I’ll make her a couple more before sending them on to her.

I just finished loading up a practice sandwich on the HQ16, as I have someone coming in from Illinois this weekend to look at it.  Wish us both luck, her that it’s the machine she wants, and me that it sells so I can have some more room to work in downstairs!

Cute huh?

Shame on me, I meant to spend my day cleaning house, right after I finished the little cupcake pincushion… but noooo… I was having too much fun and just had to make one more little in the hoop project!

Isn’t that just the cutest little pouch?  It’s not quite big enough for a makeup bag, but it would be awesome in your purse to hold small items.

The pink fabric in the background is my lining fabric.  I added the motif to the front, it’s one of the designs built into my Bernina 830.

Some of you asked about the embroidered rik-rak, so I took a close up picture of it… it really stitches out nicely!

Here’s a link to the project.  You can also purchase the embroidered rik-rak separately!

I didn’t have anything but metal zippers in my stash, so I had to pause the machine when it came to the zipper, and advance the stitching to either side of the teeth, then when I was finished I carefully sewed over the teeth by advancing the hand-wheel manually.

Hurray I won't be booted out!

Remember that adorable turtle pin cushion pattern I bought to make for the guild pin cushion challenge tomorrow?  Yep you guessed it, I didn’t get around to.  Being the new kid on the block, I didn’t figure they’d take it too kindly if I showed up with all the projects I’ve made since the last meeting… things I felt like making, so here I am, less than a day away from needing a pin cushion!

ZippyDesignZ saved me again, with a cute little cupcake pincushion sewn in the hoop.  Darling sure, but the itty bitty amount of hand stitching needed to close each layer of “frosting” were nearly more than my poor arthritic right hand could tolerate.  I got it done though, woohoo!

Our little Hobby Lobby didn’t have the right silicone cupcake holders, but this one worked well enough.

Now I want to go back and try some more of those checkbook covers, and maybe some little makeup bags.

Check book cover

I ran across a website new to me yesterday that has some adorable in the hoop projects.  I purchased a couple, one being her darling checkbook covers!

This one is just a test stitchout, I had some pre-washed and starched Osnaburg left over from another project that was just enough to make one.

These are beautifully done!  You (optional, but recommended) fuse interfacing to the cover, as well as (I used Steam-a-Seam 2) Wonder Under to the pockets, so it’s nice and stable without being overly stiff.

In this one I replaced the digitized rik-rak with a flower motif, but Carolyn’s digitized rik-rak is awesome!  This did require me to use my Jumbo Hoop as the design is too large for the large oval hoop… well heck I didn’t think to try the Mega Hoop, it might have fit.

I have three checkbooks, so I’m going to make some more, too fun!
