Pleasant testing results!

OESD released a new embroidery design set that nearly made me swoon, being a chicken and rooster lover! I recently purchased a roll of HoopSisters Battilizer… that’s the batting and stabilizer product that’s combined into one, and decided to do a test stitch out and see how the roosters looked, and how well the Battilizer performed.

I was very pleased with the Battilizer, it has a soft feel, (similar to Warm & Natural… which I hate for what it’s worth, LOL) and stood up to the density of the embroidery quite well.  There’s only one place in my entire stitch out that the embroidery wasn’t quite right, on the bottom right rooster, the outline stitch is a bit off.  Considering that this layout is 10” x 15”, done in three hoopings, with the entire center stitched in a single hooping (Bernina Jumbo hoop), that’s pretty awesome!

As for the design pack, I really had fun with it and my wonderful Bernina DPV6 software!  The top and bottom black borders I made from removing the center motif from one of the designs.  The oval shapes going around the lower right rooster were made by copying a single one of the gray petals on the yellow and gray flower on the far left, and using the kaleidescope tool to make a wreath, then I simply removed a few of them.

I changed the stitch fill entirely on the flower behind the right side rooster, using the Swirl fill in the software, and adding outlines.  So much fun!

I ended up adding two black borders, rounding off the corners, and putting piping on it.  Now I just need to whip up a back and a I’ll have a terrific pillow covering!
