Design Wall Monday

I don’t actually have anything up on my design wall this Monday, since the blue and green quilt is on the longarm, but I do have my next quilt picked out and my fabric selection ready to go.

I’ve already shared the EQ shot of the quilt… it’s the “Follow the Leader” pattern in the April 2011 edition of American Patchwork and Quilting magazine.  And there’s my chosen fabrics.  I think.  I wouldn’t mind a bit more of a contrast between the greens, but don’t have anything in my stash.  Go check out Judy’s site and see what everyone else is up to this Monday!

You know how I said I was bound and determined to learn how to knit socks, but that casting on and working the first few rows on four needles was just beyond my coordination ability?  Well I was surfing the knitting sites on the web and discovered the “Magic Loop” method!  I am so home free now, woohoo!  I can’t wait to try this, and I’ve ordered several sizes of circular needles to try it with… all of mine are too short.

First I have to make the scarf pattern for Jim that Judy posted on her blog, however I am a bit frustrated after ordering the pattern on Friday… I recieved an email confirmation that my pattern had been sent via email… that’s instant delivery right?  Nothing.  Nada.  Of course I checked my spam folder.  I’ve emailed asking about it… no response.  ***My email was replied to this morning and I have the pattern now, so I’m glad that was cleared up!***

Tomorrow, road condition permitting, I want to go visit the local yarn shop and see if I can find some great yarn for the scarf.  It’s snowing out again and we’re supposed to get plenty more on Wednesday!

Heaven help me!

It’s all Judy’s fault.  Honestly, it’s a good thing she doesn’t live next door or the pair of us would be in constant trouble, I just know it!  Broke for certain!

She’s been knitting for awhile now.  I’ve resisted the urge, been there, done that, lost interest in the hobby years ago.  Besides, who has time?  Although I confess, her socks make me green with envy.  I can knit anything but socks, I just haven’t been able to figure out to start one… holding all the needles at the beginning with nothing else to grip just eludes me.

But then I saw her scarf… and I caved.  It’s absolutely glorious!  That I can do in my sleep!  I ordered the pattern, and can’t wait to make one!  AND… I think I’m going to go visit the little yarn shop here in town and see if they’ll teach me to knit socks!

I finished the center of the quilt I’m working on yesterday, and hope to get the borders on today and get it loaded on the longarm soon.

My quilt group met last night, and as a group we’re going to make the quilt featured on the cover of the current issue of American Patchwork and Quilting (April 2011 Issue 109), and I’d like to start pulling fabrics for it.  It’s a great quilt to use up scraps on!  Although, as soon as I saw it, I immediately visualized it in cream, black and sage green.  I’m not sure which way I’ll be making mine!
