It's true! I am going insane!
Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 4:54AM I finished assembling the center of the log cabin quilt yesterday, laid out the borders, which are simply going to consist of a narrow one inch green inner border with burgundy corner blocks, and a four inch outer border in burgundy, with four inch log cabin blocks.
Okay, it wasn’t really that bad, there are only four of them afterall. The insane part kicks in when I looked down at them and realized I just have to make a toddler quilt with little four inch log cabin blocks!
That is insane. And yet I’m going to do it anyway, I am such a glutton for punishment. Does that mean somewhere in the border for it, I’ll be making two inch log cabin blocks?
Yesterday, my friend Dee stopped by on her way over to the next county to the nearest liquor store. I hitched a ride, because I discovered I was out of port and had already planned my dinner for last night and needed it. While paying at the counter, she and I were discussing my fruitcake recipe (I had a bottle of brandy clutched in my other hand) and the guy behind the counter was quite fascinated with the the fact that I used dried fruit. He started asking questions, and finally pronounced, “that sounds just like the cake my grandmaw used to make… only she didn’t call it fruitcake, she said it was “Yum Yum” cake!”
I have to tell you, it was all I could do to keep a straight face! I suppose you had to be there, but when Jim got home last night, I shared the story with him, and we howled until we cried! I have a nasty feeling that my fruitcake is going to be forever dubbed “Yum Yum” cake, and everytime I ever take a bite of it, Jim will say, “Yum Yum for my Dumb Dumb?”
Here’s the recipe for my Pork Cutlets with Port, Dried Cherries and Rosemary . This is a wonderfully fast and easy recipe and the flavor is absolutely fabulous. Enjoy!
