I forgot my camera!
Friday, June 4, 2010 at 6:42AM I really could have kicked myself for not remembering to bring my camera last night to my quilt group meeting! First, around eight of us met for dinner at a new restaurant in town, “Joe’s Pizza”. It was really quite good, and pizza was only a small portion of the menu. I will be dragging Jim back there to try out the stromboli for sure!
At the “Cuttin’ Loose’ group, there were some amazing works in progress going on! I follow Karen’s blog every day, several weeks ago we finally met in person and hit it off (what a funny expression that is!) but I have never seen those amazing little Dear Jane blocks she hand pieces in person until last night. WOW! Karen talks about all the pieces in the blocks, but it just didn’t sink in until she had one laid out, with all the little pieces cut and ready to be sewn. Truly mind boggling! And the Dear Jane book with all the patterns? There’s no instructions!
Another one of the girls does the most amazing, astounding applique quilts, with life size and intricately detailed, very realistic animals. OMG! She brought in one, a batik pieced quilt, with a stunning lionhead and mane appliqued on top. She was in the process of beading the lion’s mane. What a work of art! I think that may have been the quilt that tips me over the edge… it’s time I learn to applique!
I can’t believe I forgot my camera.
I spent the entire day slaving over the longarm yesterday, and my feet are complaining this morning, but I have one more pass and the lone star will be quilted! I am going to bind it today and get it washed, hopefully!
Jim made it in from New Orleans around midnight last night… time to go wake him up, poor guy!
