Just plain fun!

I’ve made a mess in several place, chose poorly in a few more, but that’s just fine because I’m having a blast “doodling” all over this piece of fabric!

I think after I finish this one and see what colors and stitches I like best, I will make another and turn it into a small wall hanging in my sewing room.  This could make a killer pillow, or if you cut your piece large enough, and awesome sewing machine cover!

Next time I won’t cross the couching over itself anywhere, it’s too much effort trying to turn corners with decorative stitches, and I messed up in several places.

Hoopsisters “Battilizer” is perfect for this project, I’ve used no other stabilizer and the stitches all lay beautifully.

I think on my next one, I’d love to do some zendoodles first, couch around the shapes, and then fill in.

This that and the other

I finished a couple of customer quilts yesterday, I can’t even begin to say how much I am loving the IQ for pantographs!  What a joy to work with, and my body is in heaven!

Everything about doing a pantograph is easier with the IQ.  I could kick myself for waiting this long.  Custom work… it’s a wash, but then I do so very little custom quilting for hire that I don’t particularly mind.

I have a donation quilt to do on Monday, a girlfriend made a quick top for someone she knows that has cancer, and I am doing the quilting on it.  Maybe tonight or tomorrow night I’ll sit down and decided on a design.  Today, I am having an absolute blast with a little project I am doing.

I may hate this when I’m done, but making it is quite fun!  I used my braiding foot #22 and couched down three metallic strands of embroidery thread, topstitched with silver metallic thread… that was so cool!  All the rest of the cords were couched with my #12 foot.  The black cord is faux leather, nifty!

The fun part will be going back and filling it all in with decorative stitches.

Doing stuff like this is why I love my Bernina 830!
