Woohoo it's finished!

And not only did I finish Jim’s bathrobe, I had my patterns mixed up, this one didn’t need lengthening!

Isn’t this fleece just the coolest?  I found it a couple of months ago when I was up in Conway at Hancock Fabrics.  It’s a marbled fleece… I have never seen marbled fleece before!

I took the last of the bolt when I bought this, and had there been enough, I would have got enough to make myself a matching robe, this is so my color!  I’m actually a little jealous!

The only thing left to do is hem the sleeves,  but I will wait until Jim opens it at Christmas to do so, as I’d rather get them perfect once and not have to redo them.

I’m just trying to decide if I want to monogram it or not.  I always embroider mine, tone on tone, but then I’m not a guy either!

I learned this morning that we’re losing another quilt shop, over in Conway.  Circle C Quiltworks in Pickles Gap Village is closing at the end of the month, sadly.  She hasn’t been there very long, but that seems to be the fate of every single quilt shop that opens here.

Jim and I both wanted to get out for a bit yesterday, but neither of us really felt like doing much, so we decided to take a quick trip up to Pickles Gap just outside of Conway, and visit the new quilt shop that opened there several months ago.

Pickles Gap is a little tourist stop along Hwy 65, just north of Conway.  It seemed to be generating a fair amount of traffic, but the owner of the quilt shop said the tourists don’t buy much.

I think if she had more items on display to entice them, they could be a gold mine!  Quilts already made and ready to sell, pincushions, purses and totes… your typical tourist probably isn’t a quilter, but they are shoppers!

As you can see, the store is very tiny… but the fabrics she has in stock are nicely chosen, and (thank heavens) are all first quality quilter cottons!  Some of you may gasp, thinking of course they are, but that’s not always the case in this area!

Next month they are moving into the shop next door, where they will have more space, but it’s still very small.  The end of July and first couple of weeks in August, Carol Wilbourn will be teaching her “Quilt by the Mile” method here, and I plan to attend!

That’s the owner behind the counter, and Jim slobbed out in the shorts (I was slobbed out too, LOL). I picked up the new “Schibbles times two”book and a handful of fat quarters while we were there.

Afterwards Jim and I stopped for lunch at El Chico’s, where I had a plate of avocado, mushroom and spinach enchiladas… fantastic!
