About that coffee maker...
Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 11:43AM A week or so ago I mentioned I’d caved and ordered a single serving coffee maker, the Breville BKC700XL so I could once again enjoy coffee without making a pot (or even half a pot!) and making myself sick on it.
I can’t tell you how much I am enjoying my coffee once again! I just brew a teensy cup, about half the size of a nice coffee mug, and that’s enough for me to feel indulged without feeling sick. I can even drink leaded coffee this way!
However… for a machine that costs over $200, it brews a lousy cup of coffee. I’ve tried the various blends I keep on hand, and numerous different K-cup blends, and in my opinion the coffee all comes out somewhat harsh tasting. Not bitter exactly, just harsh. When I make a pot of coffee in my Cuisinart coffeemaker, it’s wonderful! Very smooth tasting.
Am I happy with it? More or less. I’m getting my coffee, which is pretty blissful, even if it’s not great coffee. The machine is gorgeous to look at (yep, that matters too) and you can’t beat the convenience. But can it brew a comparable cup of java to a full sized machine? Not even close.
I went in for a hair cut this morning. It’s not growing as fast as it used to! It’s been like a year since I whined about Jim giving me a “trim” where he lopped it off to nearly shoulder length hasn’t it? It’s just now halfway down my back again… still not long enough to make it lay nice. It needs the weight to tame it, otherwise I have a giant head of Brillo pad hair! Ack! It’s the gray, it’s like corkscrews!
Today I plan to do the top arches on the peacock… maybe. I spent ALL day yesterday embroidering and I’m a bit burned out today, but I’d sure like to get it done.
Bread’s rising on the counter, easy dinner planned… now if I could just get motivated…
