Entries in blackberry pie (1)

Stumped

I finished the top and bottom borders with the applique yesterday.  At the moment I’m stumped on how to proceed.  The borders are too large for the center, and rather overwhelm it.  Do I add two more, with some type of twelve inch corner blocks?

Or make it a long quilt instead of square, and add a few thin borders?  I’m going to have to look at this for awhile.  It may be that it’s simply unbalanced and there’s no saving it, other than to make it just another ho hum quilt, but I’m hoping I can get some artistic juices flowing, now that my stomach has returned to normal, and make it shine.

Some things are just easier!  Like blackberry pie!  I picked and froze another several gallons of blackberries this morning, but set some aside for pie.

I don’t know why but as the blackberries come towards the end of their cycle, I always think they are so much better!  The first couple of pickings, I’d just as soon feed those to the squirrels, but halfway through their cycle and on… my oh my!

They get all plump and sweet and are just wonderful!

Any of my readers from Arkansas, if you’ve visited the “French Seam” down in Stuttgart, I would love to hear about the shop.  I’d like to take a trip out that way soon, it’s about two hours or so from my home.
