Barn Raising

The fabrics for this quilt have been sitting on my cutting table for at least a month, probably longer!
I’ve been wanting to do some log cabin quilts for some time… I thought I’d start with something basic, like the barn raising layout. I have Judy Martin’s “Log Cabin Quilt Book” and there are some amazing layouts in it!
My AccuQuilt Studio made cutting the one and a half inch strips out a piece of cake and very fast! I am beyond entranced with it!
I spent the weekend cutting the yardage off bolts and starching it, yesterday morning doing the strips and finally, I began piecing it. Two rows are done, there are one hundred and twenty blocks in this puppy, so I imagine it’s going to take a while to get it done.
I’ve used Kansas Troubles and Moda Marbles almost exclusively in the top, except for one of the beige prints, which is a Thimbleberries.
It’s raining and chilly out today, a perfect day to spend quilting. I’m going to roast a whole chicken tonight so I can try out a new stuffing recipe, make with apples and toasted pecans… then tomorrow I’ll make chicken soup with the leftovers.
