She-man?

Last weekend Jim bought a second chainsaw, so we’d have a backup as we intend to heat with wood again (finally!) when we move out to the land.  He bought a huge Stihl, the 460, and it’s a monster.  The Stihl we have now is a 250.  I encouraged him to get a backup and go with a larger model… sillly me.  While he was discussing the 460 with the salesman, I overheard him say he had a 250 that would be great for his wife to use.  Huh?

I may have weilded a chainsaw in my younger years a few times, but I’m pretty sure I’m too feeble for the task now.  I’ll take care of splitting and stacking the wood… right after we get a gas splitter. :)  She-man I’m not!

I noticed this morning while out doing chores that some of the fruit trees have started to blossom already.  I wonder when the next freeze will be?

I finished up the little monkey quilt this morning and will pop it off in the mail today… you know that’s a big part of the reason I love toddler quilts… instant gratification!

I have two little table runners to do this week that I’m really looking forward to.  Short and sweet, makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something, and since my attention span is so short lately, I need lots of short and sweet!

Oh my goodness! I am IN LOVE with that quilting pattern!!! My great grand daughter has everything monkey patterned (grand daughter decided that THAT was the theme of choice!). You did a gorgeous/precious job on that little quilt!
DH just informed me that he has the next size smaller chainsaw (and several more smaller ones as back-up......and they are all his!). We have a wood fired boiler (out door) and so love it. Absolutely nothing like wood heat! With DS and wife just up the drive, and heating with wood, also, the guys make short work of taking care of the wood. A new splitter is in the works for next year. None of this involves me any more. Been there/done that years ago. Glad you're feeling "normal"!-D Hugs.....

All things wood related belong to Dan. Bless his heart, he cuts wood for us and for my parents and splits it all with an ax. I will say it keeps him in great shape!

I never operated a chainsaw, but I did run a gas log splitter for 2 long weekends many, many moons ago. We had a truckload of big logs we got free (great wood!) so we rented the splitter, I did that part and the kids had to haul the pieces up the hill.....way up.....to the back of the yard. The kids were NOT happy about that, but they did it! And for my part, I never wanted to see a log splitter again!

I have ran the log splitter off and on for years. When I was teen we provided wood for 5 houses and I always fed the log splitter.

As for chainsaws, I gave him three sons to help with that!

Funny thing about that log splitter. I didn't use one when the boys were teenagers. They all LIKED to split wood by hand. They used to do it to warm up for basketball practice. Crazy boys.
