Ricky Tims... my new hero!

I’ve had Ricky’s “Grand Finale” DVD for years now… really I think since we were in the RV fulltime.  I finally decided to try his piped binding on my baby quilt.

I am so thrilled!  I could kick myself for not trying this sooner, I don’t think I will ever bind any other way again.  Yes the process was slow, making that teensy piping took some patience, but it was still way faster than binding by hand, which I don’t do anyway, and I love the way the little piping looks!

I have another quilt to bind this week, and will be using the same method.  Ricky, you have my undying gratitude!

Wow - everything about that quilt is perfect! The colors, the quilt pattern, the binding - start to finish - what a wonderful quilt!

That really sets off all those colors! And it makes the quilting look entirely different. Can we see the entire quilt?????? Please??????

you will need to bring this quilt with you to quilt group on Thursday night - I would love to see up close how you did that binding - I have seen piping on some quilts but never looked closely at it.

For something you weren't sure about it sure turned out great! The piping is like the cherry on top!

Love the bright colors on the quilt. And I like using Ricky Tims method for the binding with the piping, slow, but easy and looks great.

Hey CJ - I found this tutorial that makes it even easier than Ricky's method. I'm trying it out on my next quilt - thought I'd share:

Faux piping method is brilliant. If you trim the seams, you can have a more narrow piping, if desired.

I did piping on my orange crush. I used it while staying with Larry at the hospital and wondered why I have used it again. I love the look.
