Is this too ugly?
Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 2:42PM I’m feeling a bit under the weather today, and didn’t get around to doing anyting I’d planned on, but instead decided to whip up a quick toddler quilt. It’s designed, the blocks are all made, and the center is nearly sewn together.
Super easy, but I’m not sure I like it. I grabbed a bunch of solids and just started mixing them up… not a lot of thought to color, which is probably why I’m not likeing it as well as I should.
Three colors would have looked much better I think.
I have need of a toddler quilt asap. I do NOT want it to look like something I slapped together, if it does please be honest, I’d just as soon start over.
I “think” it will be cute once it’s quilted, should I reserve judgement until it’s finished? I can always use it for a dog bed!
i think I’ll go take a nap.
Or play with some dough. Fresh bread always makes me feel better!

Reserve judgement until it's quilted. You do such intricate designs that something simple and easy is throwing you off....any toddle would love to cuddle with this. Do you have a fun print for the back?
I like it, but then I love scrappy quilts. Quilt it with something special to fit the receiver. It can also be a donation quilt if you still don't like it.
Your quilt is just fine...nice and bright for a child. It will be even prettier once it's quilted. Remember too, that a quilt that looks too much like an heirloom will get put away because it's too "good" to use instead of being used and loved.
I love your quilt! I think all the bright colors are great! The quilting will make it look even better!
That quilt is GREAT for a toddler. I have an almost 3 year old granddaughter who would love it. They love all the colors, and getting to name them and point to them is great. I agree. Put a cute print on the back and quilt it so the quilting will show, and it will be perfect.
I think it looks great. Any little one would love it. It is so bright and cheerful. The qulting will make it look even better.
I think any toddler would love such a bright, happy quilt, CJ!
It's great - always scrappy quilts for toddlers in my book - the more color the better.
Reserve judgment until it's quilted. Thread color makes all the difference when a quilt is colorful. Black thread will mute the colors a bit, and your intricate designs will add detail.
I like it. Children love, love, love bright colors. Maybe quilt it with a variegated thread? With some "happy" design!
I like it. I think it is perfect for a toddler with its bright colors.
I think it's adorable! The colors are lovely and I think a child will love it. :)
I think a toddler or young child would love this quilt. As a GM of 5 gks they love things that are bright and no rythem or reason to them. I think as we get older we tend to focus on design and simularity and stay in little boxes. Maybe you can embroider a couple monkeys in the corner and make it unique with a design element, sort of scrappy art, ' I ment to do that.
CJ, Is that a picture of the quilt or is it from EQ? They don't look like "your" colors but they're great for a child. You've just stepped outside your comfort zone. I agree quilting will change it. Good luck. Diane
I like scrappy quilts and it is bright and cheery. One thing I have learned is not to be so hard on myself. It looks fine. Go ahead and quilt it and you will not be sorry. Toddlers are not as judgemental as grownups. Keep that in mind! :)
The quilt is darling. Great for a child's quilt and the quilting will bring it to life! Primary colors are perfect!

Sorry for the multiple comments. My 'puter is "whacko" today!-(
If you dont use it, call DHS and ask how to donate to the "rocking babies."
Is this from EQ7? It just looks flat. I will stand out from the rest and say it doesn't grab me, being honest! I am sure the quilting will add a lot to it. Not wanting to hurt your feelings though.
