What was I thinking?!

The upstairs has been an absolute wreck since before Christmas, I had too much going on and it simply got out of hand.  I’m a bit of a neat freak and chaos makes me crazy… so today I decided I just had to make time and tackle it!

Do you think I could simply go in and put things back to order, dust and vacuum?  Nope.  The day is more than half over, and there’s no way I’m finishing today!  I’ve pulled everything out or to one side of the room, so I could dust all the trimwork and vacuum where things normally are… and that of course led to me once again reorganizing.

I decided I should move all my office and cutting junk into one room, and all my sewing machines and my ironing board into the other.  The job is made a little easier since both my Berninas are at my dealers.

I’ve made some progress in the office/cutting room.  I brought another banquet table in from the shop, and it’s set up on bed risers as before with my custom fit cutting mat on it, and the AccuQuilt.  The one next to it is being split in half, one side for more cutting and the other for the TV I’m using a large monitor for my laptop that runs all my sewing software.  The other side of the room is still a disaster zone.

Unfortunately, my pegboard with all my rulers is in the other room, but the second room has two windows and better lighting and I much prefer to sew in it.

I brought in the Sew-Ezi table from the RV, and planned to setup the Juki on my old Koala cabinet, the Bernina 630 on the Sew-Ezi, and the Bernina 830 on the Horn cabinet.  I don’t know where the Singer 401, my serger or coverstitch machine are going to go.  I’m pretty sure there’s no way I can make this look nice either, but at least it will be clean!  I’ll post some more pictures when I make some progress.  Back to work!

Yep, decide to do just a little cleaning and it snowballs on you. Before you know it it, takes up the whole day & part of the next. And really, houses should be built with bigger bedrooms. How did you ever manage to make anything when you were living in the fifth wheel, where now you've taken over two rooms and the garage? Our garage is too full of DH's hoard for me to be able to take it over. Actually, I should say TWO garages, since he had to build another one to hold it all. LOL

we all have to take time to clean sometimes - now you won't have to do it again for awhile!

Will it work for you having the cutting & sewing areas in different rooms? I at least need a rotating cutting surface near the machine. When you get through will you come & organize my room? You'd probably have a breakdown if you're a neat freak! I just can't decide where I want things. Good luck.

I need to do the same. I just need a couple of uninterrupted days, and they're at least a few days away. I remember how easy it all was when I had just one machine and a few pieces of fabric.

See?? You did catch my reorganizing/cleaning out bug
!! So sorry!! OK, question!! Do you have a separate purpose for each machine that you leave set up?

Your room looks very nice. I agree with the comments above. I keep my large cutting table in with my machines and my fabric and longarm in another. I need another room just for the longarm. I have it at 6ft. only. No more room. Wish quilters designed homes!

Can you remove the wall and make the two rooms into one? The space would be perfect.
