Design wall Monday
Monday, September 19, 2011 at 5:29AM It’s been awhile, I haven’t had much sewing time lately! Jim is spending the week with his mom, helping her out, and I’d intended to get all caught up on the yard work while he was away… but it’s been raining!
Yesterday I pulled everything out of my sewing room, cleaned, and put it all back. An all day job!
Notice anything missing? My Bernina 830 and serger are up in Springfield, MO at the Quilt Sampler, getting “spa” treatments! Jim has to pass through there on his way to his mom’s, so I thought I’d take advantage of it and have my machines serviced.
With the 830 away, guess who’s getting a little love?
I love my little 630. It’s such a joy to use. And I can’t wait until I have the room to have all my machines set up more efficiently.
I recently added this wonderful Rowenta Expert Steam Station… and oh MY is it wonderful!!! The tank holds a fair amount of water, and it puts out cloud after cloud of lovely steam! The iron part itself is very lightweight, the steam does all the work.
Ah… but you were wondering what’s on my design wall! A couple of things! I haven’t forgotten that I’ve promised to do sewing machine cover tutorials. I need both my 830 and my serger for that, so it’ll have to wait until they’re home again, but I have sewn my strips together for both machines.
And since it’s raining and I can’t do yard work, I’ve started a mini lonestar with matching fabrics (Moda Etchings).
These are the fabrics I’ll be using in my upcoming studio, I am really looking forward to decorating it! Head over to Judy’s to see what everyone else is up to this Design Wall Monday!

You inspire me to get going on my sewing room Fall cleaning! Became somewhat of a "dumping ground" when we got back from the Black Hills. Quilt guild meeting today then catch up on a few projects.
What a very organized quilt studio!
CJ, that mini lonestar is gorgeous! It's nice to hear good things about the Rowenta -- I've really considered getting one. And I'll look forward to your sewing machine cover tutorial, too! :)
It is always so much fun to clean your quilting room and if you're like me maybe you found some "new/old" goodies! I have several machines I don't have room to set up and wish I did too. Your Lone Star is really beautiful and have fun making your machine covers!
have we been getting a lot of rain? Nice iron - you will have to let us know if it last longer than a year, I always hate to spend so much on an iron when they never seem to last long before they start to spit and sputter.

CJ, will you come & organize my sewing room? But first I'd have to clean it up a bit--I wouldn't want anyone to see it in the state it is now. I even bought a book on organizing your sewing space, but now just have to do it. The Lone Star is beautiful. Dane in CT
I spent cleaning time in my sewing area this weekend too, but since my space is 1/2 of a small shared family room, only took me a couple of hours :)
Love your new Lone Star mini. That quilt is on my bucket list.
I LOVE your Lone Star!! I have those fabrics, and love them.
How nice to have a clean sewing room. Good to get in a little unexpected sewing time. Your lone star is going to be very pretty.
CJ, you room looks great! And functional. Have your chairs always had tan cushions? I have been looking for a computer desk like yours, can you tetll me where to find one? Have fun sewing!
What a clean sewing room. Too bad they don't clean themselves.
