Another customer quilt… for their first grandchild. I used swirls on it, and Isacord thread again, in a dark green.

How’s that for wild? The outer borders on the back (center picture) will be cut off, they were applied so I could center the top with the outer blocks on the backing.

Now that is a really cool quilt! I have been commissioned to make a quilt for someone's grandson and she wants all sports fabrics. We were going to do just diamond shapes, but this is a great idea! It really looks like soccer balls. Are those whistles on the striped fabric?
Love the quilting, too.

CJ, I love CL swirlz!
Very nice quilting!
Thanx for all your hard work CJ .. this came out great and hubby LOVES it !!
This was a cool quilt to make and I thot long and hard on it. We were given the newz about the grandson a few months back and my hubby wanted to commemorate his son's sports achievements over the years. Son also did HS and college LaCrosse and now is upper mgmt in a LaCrosse store in CT. I bought fqs and 1/2 yards of anything sports I could find -- you'll notice I had a lot of black backgrounds. The back is black and white stripes with whistles, and the blocks that surround it are all sports that USE whistles. I couldn't just put blocks next to each other, so I separated them with a chain block (I use EQ too) and it gives the illusion of soccer balls .. and then add the swirls and voila ..
@ Karen in GA: I used 8 1/2" sports blocks and an 8 1/2" chain block so it comes out on center @ 40×48, then added a 1/2" white separating border with a lighter background sport for the 2nd border (hockey) in this case. And hubby mentioned something funny tonight -- his son's # all thru HS and college was 20 ... on one of the jerseys in the hockey print, there is a jersey with the # 20 on it
