My Bernina 830 has a new dress!

Yep, it’s done.  And now that it is, I know exactly how I would make it and what I would change for the next time.

The front on the left, the back on the right.

The top and side.

I’m very pleased with the way this turned out, and can’t wait to start on the cover for the embroidery module, then onto the rest of my machines.  While there is a fair amount I would change, I’ll only bother making it again for my 830 if I decided to make a complete tutorial for it.  It would make more sense to do the tutorial when I cover one of my other machines… but I’m guessing most of my readers will want the 830 tutorial.

I had planned to do overlapping circles, in red thread, over the entire length of the ivory marble (top and sides), but decided it wasn’t going to look right.  What I would do now, is to take a couple of yards of the marble fabric, load it on the longarm, and quilt overlapping spirals in red thread, then cut out the pattern sections for each machine.

For the three strips on both the front and the back that I used a decorative stitch on down the seam lines, I would pre-plan those strips to be a more or less solid dark fabric, then use the stitch with the cream colored thread so it stands out.

I’d nix the larger appliquéd circle on the back side altogether, it’s too big, and the fabric below shows through, being darker.  I haven’t decided what I would change there though… but now that I have a finished item in front of me, I can look at it and visualize my changes.

Even though you would make some changes, this cover is beautiful just the way it is! I wish I had your ambition!!!!!!

they are very pretty, you did such a good job on them. If I left my machine out I would have to have you tell me how to make them!

Diana, I've had several requests for a tutorial (not sure you'll see this, but you didn't leave an email address). Are you wanting a tutorial on how to fit and make the cover specifically for the 830, or just for any machine?

Wow!!! That is fabulous!! I better not show my 830, she will be jealous.

Your cover is just beautiful and it is such a creative design.

Do you still have your Bernina 630? I'd love to see a tutorial for that model. I have a 630 and also a 1230, and they could both use a new dress. You have inspired me to at least start thinking about it.

Hey CJ, I just looked at all the photos on the 8group. I love your decals on your machine. I went to a google search for the http://quiltastick.com/ It says no such place. I have to have those decals. Please reveal..
BTW, I'll send you a photo of the slipcover for my chair and ottoman. This was a first try, so I'm quite over the "nerves" now. I'm make it again as soon as I find some beautiful printed linen. Upholstery linen requires you sell your firstborn to buy. So, I'm on the hunt for some great sales. If you run across any, please let me know.
LOVE the 8 cover. You sell yourself so short It's fabulous.

I love it CJ! Will you make one for me!! Would love a tutorial--especially on how to do the circles on the front. And I really like the big circle on the back--what designs did you use there?.

Did you get the Floral Etchings designs from OESD--embroidery online?
Right now they are having buy one get one free--of course the ones I want are not included, but I found a couple--can't find the Floral etchings though.

You do such great work--I wish I had the time, but especially the space and the software know-how!!

What a cute cover! I'm still using the icky gray cover that came with mine. It definitely needs something cute like this. I'd love to see a tutorial on the 830 if you do one!
