My, how ideas evolve!
Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 4:03AM My sewing machine cover is not even close to the vague idea I had in my head when I started it, but that’s okay, I am liking this much better!
I’ve finished the front and will design the back next… it won’t be the same as the front. Then there’s the top and sides, which are being done in an ivory marble… no clue how I’ll embellish those yet, if at all? The contrast might be pretty sweet without, as I’ll be adding red piping and binding.
I thought you might enjoy some close up shots. This the embroidered and appliquéd section, so fun to create this in my Bernina DPV6 software!
These are the paisleys I put around the circles, they don’t show up overly well except here in the ivory section.
I sewed a strip of crocheted lace across the lower part of the ivory band, and added some red buttons I found in my button jar. I might have to do some button shopping after this, how cute would that be with some fancy buttons?
I used decorative stitch #766 on my Bernina 830 to do the “quilting”, on every other color strip, in red and cream threads.
The button and lace idea woke me up in the middle of the night, so two o’clock in the morning found me guzzling coffee and happily stitching!

I love it! I don't have the V6 software, but I do have an 830. I just may have to try to get creative and make a cover for mine. :)
I love it! That stitch you used to quilt along the strips is perfect! And the paisleys - wow - I would never have thought to do that. Fantastic.
Beautiful!
That's going to one happy machine with a cover like that. But it deserves it! Glad you've had time to "play". How's the cut-work coming? Diane in CT
Very pretty. Isn't it something how ideas just build on each other?
I love the applique embroidery! Even though they are simple circles, it really makes the front of your cover anything but simple/normal! Nice work!
Very pretty. I really like the decorative stitches and how you did the lace. And I love the circle applique.
