Pleasant testing results!

OESD released a new embroidery design set that nearly made me swoon, being a chicken and rooster lover! I recently purchased a roll of HoopSisters Battilizer… that’s the batting and stabilizer product that’s combined into one, and decided to do a test stitch out and see how the roosters looked, and how well the Battilizer performed.
I was very pleased with the Battilizer, it has a soft feel, (similar to Warm & Natural… which I hate for what it’s worth, LOL) and stood up to the density of the embroidery quite well. There’s only one place in my entire stitch out that the embroidery wasn’t quite right, on the bottom right rooster, the outline stitch is a bit off. Considering that this layout is 10” x 15”, done in three hoopings, with the entire center stitched in a single hooping (Bernina Jumbo hoop), that’s pretty awesome!
As for the design pack, I really had fun with it and my wonderful Bernina DPV6 software! The top and bottom black borders I made from removing the center motif from one of the designs. The oval shapes going around the lower right rooster were made by copying a single one of the gray petals on the yellow and gray flower on the far left, and using the kaleidescope tool to make a wreath, then I simply removed a few of them.
I changed the stitch fill entirely on the flower behind the right side rooster, using the Swirl fill in the software, and adding outlines. So much fun!
I ended up adding two black borders, rounding off the corners, and putting piping on it. Now I just need to whip up a back and a I’ll have a terrific pillow covering!

Very nice CJ!
That is seriously cool!
You do the most amazing things. Don't you think this would make wonderful potholders too? I love chickens in my kitchen.
Still oggling that crystal Bernina machine, too!

Love it, CJ! I like that set of embroidery designs too. Great job!
Very nice. Look at what time you have now that you don't have to spend all that time watering! How are your critters? In CT we have had a few days that almost felt like fall--dry air, clear blue skies--my favorite season. I love the group of designs & like to play with the components to see what develops. CJ,
love the chickens. Nice design. On another note, I see on The Quilt Show website that Ricky Tims is designing his perfect studio. You might want to follow along and see what people tell him he needs for that new space. Might help you in deciding about your own studio.

oh my, roosters and black/white damask print in one! Thanks alot, now I have to go buy it!!! Seriously cute! Don't you have your DPV6 on a Mac? I just recently got a MacBookPro and haven't EVEN tried to load my software yet lol. Seems like I remember you posting about it so hopefully in the next few weeks I'll have time to search and read how you did it.
I LOVE It ! Now I have to learn to DO it ... ;-D I just did a NAME and thot I was getting somewhere hahahaha
That is so nice!! I really like the roosters with the damask design on them!
I have done the Hoopsisters TNT and used battilizer. I do like the battilizer and the fact that the stabilizer is in it.
I will have to check out the OESD website for that design--love it!
