Melting
Monday, August 1, 2011 at 1:45PM Who has time to sew? I’m spending all mine trying to keep livestock and plants alive.
It’s actually 110 at my house… and it feels like 150. Wednesday, we expect to see upwards of 110 here. I expect we’ll see some livestock loss this week. We’re doing everything we can to keep everyone cool and everything watered, but it’s a losing battle!
Maybe I’ll do some sewing next week?

it is horrible isn't it. It is 100 here and only 3PM could go up more. I got all my errands done this morning and been in the house since I got home. My plants are drooping and I'm about given up on watering anymore for the summer - I'm thinking of giving up on them. Hope you don't loose anymore of your animals.

Do I feel for you! I can't imagine having to be outdoors much today. Our temps aren't so high today(low 80's) because of cloudiness, but the dew point is in the mid-70's (northern Wisconsin). Those kind of dew points are unheard of here, but we have had many this summer. Have a nasty thunderstorm on the way. Thought I'd better turn off the sewing machine as I don't want it clobbered by lightning! I'm not a gardener, but did some weeding, etc. on Saturday morning & ended up with heat exhaustion. Just hope the thunderstorm doesn't decide to take out the electricity - need that AC. Sure will be glad when this summer is over. You take it easy in that heat!
Feels like 150???? Really? Or is that a typo? It's a 100 here and feels like more, and I think that's bad!!
Now you know what it is like in the desert for FIVE months! We have some humidity but not like the Midwest and East. Of course we expect to be hot each time we leave the house and it feels like an oven door was just opened. I hope it breaks soon for everyone who is suffering.
Hot here in Houston and in an extreme drought also. Not our typical summer for sure! Hoping for fall to get here but that will probably bring a hurricane!
The weather this year is just downright scarey in my opinion. Extremes with everything from spring on to now. I wonder what hurricane season will bring as well as winter this year. I have given up watering outside for the most part.
I'm with you, I can't believe how hot it is. I was going to go out and read at 10 p.m. last night but it was still too very hot.
Be careful out there.
