Quilt labels... how do you do yours?
Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 9:40AM I confess… I am the world’s worst when it comes to putting labels on my quilts, but I am trying to get better about it!
I have two embroidery machines, so I might as well embroider them right? They’re actually a lot of fun to make! This one went on the back of the crazy log cabin quilt… which go renamed “Funky Town” because while I was quilting it, that song played on my iPod and got stuck in my head!
And this one is going on the scrappy bali sweet menagerie:
My parents log cabin quilt for Christmas last year:
I probably need way more information on them, but at least some of them are getting labels right?

I'd love access to an embroidery machine for cute labels like yours! In the meantime, I'm trying to keep them simple.

I try to make quilt labels similar to yours for all my quilts-usually with a design from the quilt. If I am gifting the quilt to someone--their name is on the quilt. I include the "name" of the quilt, my name, address, and date. Looks like we are on the right track.

that is neat doing it with embroidery - if I had a embroidery machine I might do mine like that too. I make up a label on the computer and print it out on treated fabric - just basic info - name of quilt, who made it, who designed it, and washing info - sometimes name of who it goes to and the year.

I tend to forget to make labels also. I do like your embroidery labels. I think the last 2 or 3 I made were embroidered by machine after I saw yours.
Cute labels! I especially love the Funky Town. I want to upgrade my Bernina, but I don't think it would fit where I have my 180. So I'll keep drooling! Have a great day!
CJ, Which font did you use for the Funky Town label? I have Bernina machines and make labels for my Quilts of Valor group. I would like to find a font that is cleaner than the Swiss Block I'm now using. Thanks. Love your quilts and labels!
