Design wall Monday
Monday, June 20, 2011 at 5:22AM I am really excited about this next quilt… and I haven’t even designed it yet! When “Elepinks” by Nancy H Barret was released a couple of years ago, I fell in love with those saucy fat hot pink elephants, but I wasn’t going to pay full price for the embroidery pack because I don’t have any little kids around me, but when the collection was retired and marked down, I snagged it!
Are these guys just the cutest or what? My color scheme was inspired by the pastel blue and yellow batik in the fabric pile here, and the elephants appliqués are in the light blue marble on the white background, and I’ve added the solid yellow and a darker blue marble.
That’s all I have so far. I’m going to sew out the elephants I want, photograph them… import them into EQ, and design my quilt around them. Typical of how I work.
The quilt doesn’t have a destination, it’s simply an idea dying to get out and I can’t wait to see how it wants to be made!
Head over to Judy’s and see what everyone else is up to this week!

Ok, CJ. Explain how you used the blue batik fabric and then transferred it to the white background fabric.
I love the elephants.
Those elephants are absolutely adorable.
OK, that is just wonderful. I would have had to do them if they had come as a BOM.
yep, adorable
I love the elepinks collection! And I think that maybe they are even cuter in blue! Can't wait to see your wonderful creation.
Very, very cute. It ALMOST makes me want an embroidery machine. Almost.

Very cute! Should be fun to design a quilt around those blocks.
