Wacky Log Cabin done!

Well except for the binding, and I plan to try attaching it on the longarm… something I’ve been wanting to try for some time!  Of course it still has be hand sewn (or machine) to the back, but I hear it’s a real joy attaching it to the front via a longarm.

It’s drizzling and cloudy out, so I don’t have any good pictures.  I’ll repost them later when I can get some good shots.  Front and back:

And some attempted closeups of the quilting:

That was a very thread intensive quilt pattern!

I'm glad you used the neon green! Very nice. I forgot what you are doing with this quilt?

Please send rain.....AZ is on fire. Keep us in your prayers.

I love it!!!! what was the name of the panto that you used? How intriguing to sew the binding on with longarm. Let us know how that goes.

As always CJ your work is superb! Got a question for you, how do you estimate how many bobbins to wind? Never fails I get to the end and have to wind another bobbin or two. So frustrating!

Thanks everyone! Karen, I log all my quilts into my quilt software so after awhile, I had enough data to make a good guess on the number of bobbins needed. But here's a rough estimate from Superior Threads:

Light Quilting . Medium Quilting . Heavy Quilting Lap/Crib Size  200 yds. . . . . . .400 yds.  . . . . . .  600 yds.
Twin Size        400 yds. . . . . . .800 yds. . . . . . .1,200 yds.
Queen Size     600 yds. . . . . 1,000 yds. . . . . . .1,600 yds.

King Size        800 yds. . . . . .1,400 yds. . . . . . .2,000 yds.

CJ, I always enjoy reading your blog whether you are sewing/quilting, cooking or gardening/farming. You have real talent - in all areas - from designing, choice of colors and quilting. Why aren't you pursuing magazine/book deals? I wish I was a neighbor or yours for sure!
