Joplin Quilters
Friday, June 10, 2011 at 3:46AM One of my blog readers emailed me with this information to share with the rest of you, if you’re looking for ways to help out those in Joplin.
“After the tornado in Joplin, I did some searching to find a way to help in some way possible to me. I wrote to this group (Town & Country Quilters of Joplin) thinking they might be aiding people there and this is the response I received from Gloria Park. Her email address is:”
Yes we are Town and Country Quilters of Joplin and make 178 quilts a year for the needy and now we are the needy. All of our fabric, supplies and quilts we have made all year were destroyed and we need more. On top of that many of our 70 Guild members have lost their homes and we are in need of money to help them. Any material, quilts, supplies or donations of money can be sent to 2921 N. Hickory, Joplin, Missouri 64801 Checks can either be made out to Gloria Park or Town and Quilters. Thanking you in advance. With love, Gloria (batting also accepted).

While deeply grateful for all donations received, the president of the Joplin quilters told me yesterday that they do not need more fabric and supplies at this time. They lack storage and must plan to use the many wonderful items that were sent. I posted information about alternative agencies needing help, including possibly quilts for homeless families, at http://www.okeefes.org/Joplin/Joplin.htm.
