The hard things in life

Never get any easier, even as we get older, wiser (??) and more prepared… some things just reach out and smack you when you’re not looking.

Jim’s father passed away a during the night.  I knew when the phone rang at two in the morning it wasn’t going to be good news.  Never in a million years did I expect this to happen while Jim was a million miles away in a hotel in a strange city, where I couldn’t be there for him.

The next few days will likely be a blur, and tough as the shock wears off.  Please keep Jim and our family in your hearts… and I’ll be back when things settle down.

I don't like middle of the night calls! No one calls with good news then. It was too bad that Jim wasn't home with you, that just adds to the pain. So sorry for your loss, take care.

CJ, please accept my condolences. We have been in your place. The next few days my be a blur, but in will the weeks and months ahead that may be the hardest. My dad has been gone for almost 30 yrs, but I remember the moment of receiving the news as if it was yesterday. Grieving is a process of sadness and joy. May your process be filled with good memories of Jim's dad.

So sorry for your loss, phones in the middle of the night are some of the hardest things to deal with... so sorry. I just happened on your blog today for the first time, give your husband our condolences.

Oh, CJ...I am so sorry about Jim's dad. It never gets easy, no matter how old you are. I hate phones in the middle of the night. Never will forget the night I received a call from my brother almost 20 years ago telling my our 31 year old niece had just been killed in a car accident. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.--Marla

CJ: I'm so sorry for you, Jim and the rest of the family. It does seem that life can throw us curve balls when we're least expecting them. I know it was hard for you to send Jim off without you but you did what you had to do.
