Dang... I got sucked up in EQ!

I feel terrible… I spent almost the entire day playing with border options for the wacky log cabin quilt, and didn’t accomplish anything else!  However, I like this quite a bit, but would love some feedback or suggestions.

The one on the right has a black inner border.  I think I prefer the one on the left.

My eyes are glazed over!

When I went out to check the mail, I noticed our irises are blooming!  Isn’t it like way early?

I like the quilt - looks great to me. Our Iris's are always behind - I think we are just enough higher than your area. I think they are early - when we saw our daughter in NLR the other day she had already cut a bouquet of the iris's and mine do not have buds yet, I checked when we got home on Saturday.

Personally, I think it makes it too "boxy".

Don't get me wrong... my all-time favorite block's gotta be the log cabin block!

grin

How about you add an extra wide border... or however wide you wish, and add some vines, leaves and/or flowers?

Just a suggestion...

I vote for the one on the right with the inner black border.

I also vote for the one on the right - makes the rest of the quilt seem to float.

I will be outnumbered and hate to say this since you spent all day designing but think just plain borders would look better as it is busy enough with your center log cabin design and a pieced border like this takes away from it. Just my opinion though. The log cabin is one of my favorite patterns.

I agree with JoanS. The blocks float in the right one.

I vote for the one on the right! Love how the quilt floats from the border! I LOVE the border...think it is perfect!

I have to agree the one on the right is my favorite. The black border really makes everything else pop.

I think the black inner border is more traditional, more expected, so being a bit of a contrarian, I like the one on the left better. You have a contemporary color choice and the outer boxes are more contemporary, which I think add interest, so I'd go for the less traditional approach. Whichever way you go, though, I think you have a fun quilt in the making with these colors and the lively outer border.

I like the quilt but what is the difference between the two?

I made bread today from the basics, kneading, etc. Seemed a little dense to me but I am still on a quest for a nice loaf of white bread.

The great thing about making bread is that even the not-so-great stuff can be turned into bread crumbs, etc.

I like the one on the right with the black inner border. It is fresh, different, and surprising. That is my first and second impression. I lime it very much and wouldn't recommend any changes.

I like the one on the left. Lighter border opens up the design a bit. I'm not sure I'd use the box border. A little busy. Kathy

YIKES...sorrreee....not my style at all...IMHO this looks like a nightmare. Just a plain log cabin would look waaaay better. Luv ya anyway though.

Everythings blooming here in central TX...however, it did blow in a little cooler last night.

As I usually prefer an inner border, I have to agree with you, I like the one on the left. I LOVE the border!! all pieced blocks?

Like the one on the left better because it seems to frame the inner design and sets it off leaving the outer boarder as a lovely frame for the entire quilt. You do beautiful work, what talent! :)
