Oh dear... I'm in trouble now!

So the plan yesterday was to finish quilting the blue and green quilt after I went to the store and the yarn shop downtown.  Unfortunately, the yarn shop didn’t open until noon yesterday, because on Tuesdays, they host an evening “knit in”.  By the time I left there, my feet were in the clouds and my mind dreamily knitting luxurious socks and gorgeous sweaters!

I didn’t walk out empty handed either.  I bought yarns for socks, and yarns for scarves, and I do believe I’m going to have to do an internet search and see if there are MORE yarn shops anywhere nearby!

Of everything in the store, one yarn in particular had me drooling and petting it… Jojoland Melody, a gorgeous finger-weight variegated wool.  So soft!

I have a yarn swift and a ball winder on order, along with several sizes of Addi knitting needles, and I’m praying that it all comes back to me!  (How to knit, that is).  I did make a fisherman knit afghan for the RV about 5 years ago, but other than that I haven’t done any knitting since I was in my twenties!

I have been working on a crocheted afghan this winter… I hadn’t done any crocheting in years either.  It’s coming along slowly and crocheting really bothers my right hand, but I’ll get it done eventually.

But oh dear… I could barely stand to touch the yarn I’m using on it (Lion’s Brand) after fondling all those fabulous spun wools!

Jim wanted pizza last night, and while I was craving a salad, pizza hit the spot.  We’ll have salads tonight, with smoked ham and hard boiled eggs.

We were supposed to wake up to snow this morning, but there’s nothing on the ground… and supposedly we’re expecting 4 - 8 inches of the fluffy stuff today!

wow - you went crazy! the yarn in the shop is beautiful isn't it. I bought a little bit and made a blue wool scarf last year. I knitted it but that was about it for the my capabilities in knitting. I tried a sweater but it ended up a mess and that was beyond me. I am crocheting a afghan but who knows when it will be finished - I am just using the cheaper yarn for that though. The wools are beautiful.

It will come back to you. I knit as a teenager and not very well I must say. I was a thrower not a picker and my work just never really looked "finished". I started again about fifteen years ago and picked up some good knitting magazines and read the articles over and over on technique. One talked about changing her knitting style from throwing to picking and how it increased her speed... I'm all for that so I made myself change and it did increase my speed but it also eliminated the slight ridges that I was experiencing between my knitting and purling rows. That was a lovely bonus and really made me want to knit more. Now I do the two at a time socks and they are such fun. Good yarn is like good fabric and you know the difference. Good luck!

Looks like you will have something to occupy your time in the coming snow. It didn't start here until 5 and we have over 6 inches now.

I'm not a knitter, CJ, so all I can do is wish you lots of fun in rediscovering this kind of fun. As for the pizza, YUM! I love homemade pizza! :)

The yarn is beautiful. Nine of us got out of Chicago before the storm hit last week. We went to Shipshewana, In for the PJ sale they have once a year. I also went to the yarn shop and bought some beautiful yarn for a hat. I just couldn't help myself. We got snowed in and had a wonderflul time at the B&B quilting and knitting. Gotta love being snowed in.

So now you will be "out" two nights a week! I use to knit once a week with a small group of friends...one of my favorite nights. I basically taught myself new stitches etc. by reading and trying more difficult patterns. It sounds like you have a great LYS. Sure wish I could knit in wool...too hot here.

Beautiful yarns! Isn't it amazing the difference in some yarns vs. others. I placed a couple of orders today . . more scarves! It will come back to you. I couldn't even remember how to cast on when I started knitting again and it all came back to me. It will be so nice having a yarn shop near you! I miss that.

Wait until you spin your own fabulous soft yarn on your own spinning wheel - it doesn't get any better than that!!<G>

This is a fabulous shop in Australia - you would have some great online retailers in US!
