Way too much fun!
Friday, December 23, 2011 at 11:41AM I have been having a wonderful time teaching myself to use the new IQ system! It’s the coolest thing ever! I’m finding it quite intuitive to use, and really can’t wait to try playing on a real quilt! Reading is one thing, actually sewing something out and watching the steps it takes, depending on the options you choose, is quite another! I don’t think I’d ever retain this information in a classroom setting, but trying out what I want in the order the ideas pop into my head? Priceless.
It’s relaxing, and I can learn in the natural order my brain wants to go. Most teachers offer a structured environment that is very difficult for me to follow, I’ve never done well with structure… or conformity… or playing well with others… I’m definitely marching along to my own drumbeat.
I’m going to meet Jim for lunch today at our favorite burger joint (CJ’s Butcher Boy… no relation) and we’re going to walk across the street afterwards to peek at a treadle a friend of mine spotted in the flea market that’s located there. From the pictures she sent me, it looks to be a common Singer 66 Red Eye, which is fine, I’m really more interested in the treadle base itself, since the machine can be swapped out. A White is what I really want, simply because the cabinets are so beautiful!
Jim is on call all weekend… looks like it may be rather disruptive! The phone rang at 3am this morning and a three hour conference called followed. Not a good omen for Christmas!

I left it with Chad and I don't know if he wants it but if you are ever passing through and want it, I'll see what his plans are for it.
