Yippee! I have at last managed to successfully use a hemmer foot! I have tried them on my Bernina’s, my Singer 201… the 301’s… the Juki… no luck!
Today I tried it on my 401, and it was perfect! Now what could be different?

I don’t think I care, I am just happy to finally be able to do this!

I am greatly impressed. I have tried to use one for almost 40 years and I only get a few inches. Maybe I will try again! Congrats.
I have been stitching aprons for Christmas gifts. Several of them have lots of ruffles, so I learned to use the hemmer foot, also. I still have a little trouble at the beginning but have been successful with the rest. Check out my blog after Christmas when I can post photos...

Congrats! I love the hemmer foot! I taught myself how to use it when I hemmed oodles of yardage for ruffles on curtains.
Maybe you were holding your mouth just right this time! That is certainly cause for shouting from the rooftops though. That's a beautiful hem. I struggled with them off and on for years until I purchased a book by Carol Ahles and used her technique. Here's a link: http://www.carolahles.com/books_products/books_main_page.htm
If you are interested in heirloom sewing, I highly recommend the book. Did you use the same foot on each machine?
Good for you Cj! I have never tried that foot. Great little machine you have there!
I'm jealous, CJ! I've tried and tried to use a hemmer foot on my Bernina, and I just can't get it. :(
I sewed clothing for many, many years and have never used a hemmer foot. I think I need to learn. It looks great.
I've tried, too, over the years, to no avail. Didn't even bother to get the foot for my Berninas.
you rock, girlfriend!!
Can you come and teach me how to do this? I'll cook for you ..... promise!
I, too, have tried with limited success. How about a video? Inquiring minds want to know. Diane in CT
