Design wall Monday
Monday, November 7, 2011 at 10:17AM I’m a little late today, as I didn’t have anything on my design wall this week, having scratched the mystery block of the month… but I thought I’d come upstairs and clean up the mess of jelly roll strips that are piled up in the window from making the sewing machine covers.
Being a lazy slob that gets easily side tracked, I sat down and made a block… and then decided rather than clean up all the strips, I’d just make a scrappy quilt out of them. Twelve inch sampler blocks, whatever I can create from jelly roll (two and a half inch strips), will make up this quilt.
That beats cleaning up don’t you think? My very own mystery quilt, because I’ve no idea what it’s going to look like! There’s the first block!
Head over to Judy’s to see what everyone else is up to this week!

CJ -- I love it! And love the thought of a personal mystery quilt -- it sounds like something I'd do! :)
You are off to a very fine start! I love the way you think.
I like it! I think it will make a very nice quilt--look forward to watching the progress!

Anything is better than cleaning!!!! Love your start!!
Did you feel the earthquake?? Shook our house a little and rattled the lamp finials.... going to have to tighten those things.
Now, THAT's clever, girl! Instead of cleaning up, make something out of those strips!!! LOVE IT! And knowing your amazing skills, it will be a wonderful quilt!! You GO, girl!!
I love the first block of your personal mystery! Cleaning can get a quilter in such trouble.
LOL ... love it ... so if I look thru my scrap pile and instead of cleaning them up and putting them away, start another block .. hmmm .. could be useful ...
Nice clean-up lady!!!
You sure whip up nice blocks with a pile of fabric! I'm so impressed.
