Awed... again

All this excitement over the Featherweight had me longing to do some stitching on my 201-2 again.  It’s been a while!

I had forgotten what a crazy beautiful straight stitch this machine makes.  Last time I sewed on her, I had ordered a new quarter inch foot, tried it out, and remembered that my stitching looked a little puckered.

For some reason, I didn’t take the time to resolve the issue, but today when I turned her on, there it was.  I tried everything, fresh needle, fresh spool of thread, adjusted the bobbin tension, the upper tension… nada.

I was just about to give up in frustration when I decided to put a different presser foot on… the original standard foot.

Bingo!  Absolute perfection restored!  I guess I’ll be pitching that plastic foot.

I purchased this beauty from Jenny over at Sew Classic a couple years ago.  She did a beautiful job of refurbishing it for me.  But wait until you see the breathtakingly gorgeous featherweight I’m adding… it’s so incredibly beautiful I think I’d like to have my 201 completely restored as well!

I have not seen any of these done.  Especially in custom paint.  If anyone has a link to a fully restored, custom painted 201, I would love to see it!

The featherweight I chose is a 221 model, not the 222k I was looking for.  Each one that I found that I wanted, once inquiring about it they were already sold.  I think I will still add one later.

I thought you might enjoy my “piecing room”.    Also known as the “melting pot”… I have a Singer, a Bernina, a Babylock and a Juki in here.  It’s ugly.  I never do any creating or dreaming or designing in here, but I do a heck of a lot of sewing in here.

If I set up the little featherweight, it will probably end up in here too… I have another wall!

that featherweight you show the link to sure is nice - I have a featherweight and have thought of getting it refurbished but haven't gotten around to it.

And to think (if I'm remembering right) that Jim got you started on all this when he got the Bernina 170?

What a beautiful machine. The color is gorgeous. You will love that machine. I love sewing on my Featherweight , however, I also love just looking at it. It always makes me smile.

I've got my mom's 1958 Singer Slantomatic. I might start piecing on it. It's the machine I learned to sew on and it still makes a beautiful stitch!
I've been wanting a Featherweight--what about buying on e-bay? There are a good bit there.

I bet you just need to adjust your presser foot pressure with that 1/4" foot. By the way, love your machine covers. I'm gonna make me one for the 820! My daughter has a 201. Great machine!
