Design wall Monday

I’m cheating… it’s actually Sunday afternoon, but I’m pooped and have nine million things to do tomorrow, and I’ll probably forget to make my post if I don’t do it now!

This quilt is getting worked on in between everything else, but all the time consuming parts are now done, I just have to put my four borders on it.  Speaking of borders… why do I keep seeing quilters lately talking about their “boarders” on their quilts?  Aaagghh!

The skinny half inch red border around the center, then the log cabin border, another red border (an inch this time) and finally and black floral outer border… which hopefully I have enough fabric for!

You may notice my center block changed again!  I didn’t have enough of the tan fabric for the star, so I had to come up with a block that used more of the other prints.  Then I ran out of the checked black, and so this block wasn’t quite what I had in mind either!  And oh what a booger it was to piece!  I should have redrawn it so that there wasn’t any set in seams, as it was there were eight of them, bleh!

That’s kind of a cool block though isn’t it?  Reminds of “Card Trick”, only with a star in the middle.

Jim should be home Tuesday night, woohoo!  Seems like he’s been gone forever… and I need him to come home and save me from ice cream overload!

Make sure you head over to Judy’s (tomorrow) and see what everyone else is up to!

Gorgeous! Love the whole quilt, but that center block is a winner.

Wow -- the center block really is great! And it's funny how you can change the prominent "design" depending on what you're focusing on! I didn't even see the card trick until you said something, and it popped! :)

I love this center block the best. It echoes the barn raising pattern of the log cabin blocks nicely. Beautiful!!

That is going to be a beautiful quilt.

cj, the center block is perfect. Even before reading your post, this change is "the one". I liked all your versions but this one clicked.

Too bad I don't have time to start this before the holidays. Maybe that's good.

Gorgeous and I love the center block, however, I am not a fan of any fancy seaming. Lovely design.

That is a beautiful quilt. Can't wait to see it completed.

Beautiful. Do you have a place for it yet? :-)

Oh my, that is exquisite!! Stunning!!! Sensational!!! Amazing!!! Truly, you have created an incredible work of art!

I just know you made this for me, so I'll be sending my address along in a little while. :-)

Boarders--I think some people spend so long on borders that it's feels like they are "boarding" there. LOL

Very Beautiful! I love how the center block turned out. My, that really changes the look of the quilt.

This is gorgeous! The center block came out great and it really draws you in. How long will it take for you to quilt it?

CJ, this one is gorgeous and I like this center the best!! What are the dimensions of that center block? What size did the quilt end up to be?

Could you do that whole center in half-square triangles? You are a wonderful designer--I have NO skill in that area.

Wow! Gorgeous quilt. The center star is very nice. I've never seen that pattern before. Good luck on getting all the borders on this week.

CJ, Bernina and OESD missed out when they didn't have you design the quilt for them. Your version is so much more appealing than the one shown in the Holiday Collection document. Fabulous!

Stunning!

Very festive and I love it.

I see people due for do and quiet for quite. I'll be looking for the boarders on the border.... LOL!!

I really do like how this all turned out CJ. No, I still haven't located my EQ7 update either.:)

Absolutly beautiful. Did you design this yourself? And, are they appliques, machine embroideries, or prints? Can't wait to see how it is quilted.

It's beautiful. The center block does remind me of card tricks. Haven't been able to keep up with your progress this past week due to the power outage here in CT. We were out for over a week. A hickory tree knocked the chimney for our wood stove over, so needless to say it has been cold. How I missed your blog, the groups, not to mention my sewing machine. Diane in CT

Beautiful design CJ -- really like the way you made this quilter bigger and more appealing than the OESD version. Mom and I found some fabric this weekend here that will work great but I'm now thinking I want to incorporate the beige - it really sets the quilt off nicely.

Would you be willing to share the EQ7 file on the center of your quilt? It is really outstanding. Thanks.
