Chaos and creativity go together like peanut butter and chocolate!
Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 11:26AM My sewing room is starting to get a little chaotic again, I’ve got bits and pieces of “ideas” laying around everywhere, as I make little samples for the next sewing machine cover. Funny, I knew exactly what I wanted for the Bernina 830 cover and the Bernina 1300MDC cover, but I don’t yet know what the Bernina 630 cover is going to look like!
It isn’t going to be made with jelly roll strips, although I’ll be using the same Moda Etchings fabrics of course, since that’s my studio remodel theme.
I don’t know how well you can see the fabric in this ruffle, but I will be using it for the main body of this cover. And I do know the bottom is going to have a big red ruffle! And possibly side pockets. And that’s all I know!
This ruffle is one I’m considering using. I made it by serging both edges with a wide rolled hem, using DMC #5 floss in the loopers, then I used the ruffler foot to gather the center. Just playing at this point! I also made some ruching and I may perhaps use it!
Since a design hasn’t fully formed in my head yet, I’m working on the Yuletide Magic quilt while the creative process simmers in the background. I just wish it would stop keeping me awake at night!
I should get all the log cabin blocks finished today at least. I’m back to second guessing the center block though. It may change again!

Busy, busy, as always! And I agree, it sure is difficult to sleep when the ideas just keep 'circling'!!!! If it was just one idea then it would be settled, but then all the options start floating through!!!!
I love that little crazy quilt block in the background with the decorative sittches. I think a that could be a cute cover idea. Love the edges of the ruffle but wonder how the floss was wound or was it spooled to use on your serger.
I must be rushing you. I have been gushing over your pattern, but for some reason I had pictured it as being finished. I guess it's the power of the mind.
I was curious as to the thread you used on the ruffle so thanks for sharing what you used. Sergers are fun little machines and I keep running into people that have never used one before. Since I got my first serger back about 1975ish I've always had a serger - may not have used it much in the last 10 years or so but I had a serger around. I still have the first serger too. It is a juki and just 3 threads, and no differential feed as that wasn't available at that time.
I love those silhouettes! Is that the OESD one that comes free with a $75 purchase?
What fabric line are you using--its not the Benartex is it? I really like what you have done. I think yours is much prettier than the one shown with the CD.
