What a cute quilt!

I finished quilting this one a couple of days ago.  It’s a customer’s quilt, and I think it is so adorable!  The fabric line she used is called “Baby Geniuses” by Linda Carlson Fabrics.  I love black, and never would have thought of combining it with bright primary colors for a child, but I absolutely love this!

I am going to have to look for some black and white polka dot fabric for my stash!

I made Jim a batch of cinnamon nut rolls on Sunday, only for him to find out that he had to be out of town for work again this week at the last minute, so guess what I’ve been gorging on this week? Woe is me right?  LOL

I have another customer quilt to try and finish up today, and then I plan to start on my next comfort quilt.  Thanks for the new word ladies, I like the word comfort much better than charity!

One of the comments on my last post suggested that so much black wasn’t a good idea for an ill teen.  We all know I adore black, but after thinking about it, she’s right.  And the quilt in my previous post… well it just needs to be black!  So I’m back to the drawing board working another design.  I need to make a couple sample blocks, but right now I’ve designed a more traditional pattern, using  white (or beige), a medium green and a medium blue.  I’ll post pictures in a couple of days, and see what everyone thinks of the design and colors for a teen boy.

love that quilt! Jim should have taken some of the rolls with him and heat them in a microwave.
Sounds like you have been busy.

Keep in mind that there are needs for comfort quilts other than ill teens. Teens in foster care may have been removed from a home and have very little personal property. This is a much overlooked area of need.

CJ, The Genius quilt is adorable! I have that kit in a Genius box that I have never made. Now, it's tugging at me to get it out. It's all precut.
I love the polka dots and stripes your client added. Your quilting is perfect! Swirling looks so nice

Black, white & red are the first colors that a newborn can see, so the choice of black & white for a quilt for an infant are good. Not to mention that that quilt is very visual. Those rolls look yummy. Diane in very snowy, cold CT

I know babies see black, white, and red first, but this quilt is fabulous. Love those color combinations.

What a lovely quilt. Your quilting looks great - as usual. How exciting it must be to see your customers' quilt tops and to add your special touches. Thanks for sharing with us.

Hi CJ,

That is one neat quilt for a baby. I remember when they figured out the black and white and yellow were colors that captured the infants first.
I just can't remember which baby it was...I also think it is no wonder that there is so much ADD and ADHD now the way we stuff our kids' heads.
I think the bull's eye was one of the first things I remember they introduced and somewhere around here is a set of that stuff. Most of it boxed away.

I like the quilt pattern too, you did a really nice job on it. Hey maybe the bull's eye gave you the subliminal thing for the cinnamon rolls, or maybe the quilt buzzed you so much you needed to come down on cinnamon. lol. Keep up the good stuff. The swirls on the blog are cool. I think they fit well with the rest.
