Well it's not a pillow!

And I really wanted new pillow covers! I guess that’s what happens when you start sewing without a plan eh?
There’s no light to be had in my house today, it’s dark and dreary out (and I’m loving every minute of it!) and the bedroom windows offered up the best light today… but whew what a background! My little quilt rather gets lost with all that black and white plaid!
My first indication that this wasn’t going to be a pillow was when I realized I’d sewn the appliques “square” instead on on point. Oops. It didn’t help matters that my little nine patch blocks made the pillow twenty some inches across… just a tad too big for a pillow!
I ended up “quilting” it via the hoop, on my Bernina 830. That was fun, I haven’t done that in a long time!
I put a feather in the nine patch sections… a basket of flowers in each of the flannel (egads, stretchy stuff that!) corners (two red, two brown) and a butterfly in the four corners around the applique.
Mock back, no binding, I just sewed it up like a pillowcase and turned it right side out. I’m ready for a nap now!

That is really cute. I haven't tried much quilting in the hoop yet. I have a Viking Designer 1. Where do you like to get your quilting embroidery designs?
Well, it may not be a pillow, but it sure is pretty.

I love little quilts. This is darling, CJ
Looks great! Love the "quilting"!
Your post reminds me of my post the other day on my "Snowflakes and Daisy" Quilt.
Sometimes things change as we make it. But, It sure turned out cute.
What weight of thread did you use for the applique? I like the quilting in the hoop. Haven't tried that and now I just might!
What a creative quilter you are, CJ! LOVE it!
It's a keeper! Love the quilting. Aren't these machines great??? We're so blessed to have such fun! :-)
