The ugly and the pretty :)

Between weed whacking and two days spent at the longarm finishing up quilts, my foot is dying again.  I have a feeling my shopping trip in Little Rock on Friday is going to be rather short!

I finished the blue and brown quilt for my parents.  I can’t say I’m very pleased with it at all.  I really struggled with what to quilt on this, and my idea did not turn out so well, I’m sorry to say.

I’ll post another picture after I get it bound and washed.  My folks are leaving on vacation this weekend, so there’s no hurry to get it to them.  It’s likely to get stuffed in a closet anyway!

I also finished a customer quilt this afternoon.  It’s a small baby quilt, and she chose my all over Swirls pattern for the quilting.  This is a very popular design, and looks great on everything!  I used a pale green thread (So Fine!) on top, and blue (Isacord) to match the flannel backing in the bobbin.

Quilters Dream Poly for the batting, it’s my favorite for kid quilts, it washes beautifully and takes a beating.

Ok - what is wrong with the quilt design on the blue/brown quilt. I was looking at it and thought it looked just fine. I think the quilting on the baby quilt is really nice - I like that swirly pattern.
Sorry your foot is not feeling too great - I'm having trouble with an arthritis flare up in my neck again - so much for trying to improve my workout!

Wow, CJ, I really like your quilting choice for the blue & brown quilt. Its creative and looks really good. Love the oak leaves in the blue squares and your feathers look really good!
That all over swirls is a nice pattern. Looks good on that quilt.

I think the blue and brown quilt looks great! I am curious about the swirls. Is that one of your own all over designs or is it a pantograph. Both quilts look wonderful!!

For me, the hardest part is deciding how to quilt it.

Well, I really like your quilt. I enlarged your photo and I like the quilting. You know, we are our worst critics. Your mom will love it. What are you going to do in Little Rock?

Wanna borrow my trifocals? There is nothing wrong with that brown quilt. It looks fantastic.

OK, I adore the swirly quilt design. I need to make a quilt top so you can do that to it.

I just wanted to let you know that I also suffer from plantar fasciitis. I have had it for 9 months and some days I could barely walk. After hearing horror stories about cortisone shots, and having the mindset that there was no way in hell that I was going to subject myself to that...well, my podiatrist recommended it. I am a wienie when it comes to needles. I have to tell you, the injection was painless, and I felt relief within a few days. It has been 2.5 weeks now, and I have been pain free with no morning foot aches. I have even started to run again! You might want to keep this in the back of your mind.

Peggy, I've already had a cortisone injection. Your doctor must have numbed the area first, (mine didn't) because I thought it hurt like crazy! Most of the pain I was experiencing is gone now, (heel pain) but now the torn muscle is painful over on the side of my arch.

Sounds like you need some put-your-feet-up time! The brown and blue quilt looks good from here and I LOVE the swirls!! Polly\P.S.- I'm off to jury duty today! :-(

My plantar fascitis was resolved by physical therapy and massage. It always hurt like h*ll when the massage began but always felt so much better when she finished. With the injury you have to be a bit careful, but a really good PT should still be able to help.

Hope you feel well enough to shop though <grin>
