Bah Humbug!

Really, I shouldn’t say that.  I had an absolutely fabulous day today!  But I’m disappointed as the first six pairs of shoes arrived from Zappos today, and not one of them fit.  Well, one of them did actually fit, but after wearing them around the house for less than an hour, my feet began to hurt, so no luck there either.

Those were all the sneakers, I really need a pair of them for walking!  The remaining shoes are casual everyday shoes.. and none of them are cheap, I was truly hoping to find a pair of sneakers under $150 that didn’t hurt!  Back to the drawing board on those, although I think I’ve exhausted every brand of sneakers out there.  Time to try them in Men’s IF I can find them small enough.  I’m right between Men’s and Boy’s in size… I need a men’s size six, almost impossible to find.

But here locally, oh my did I have fun!  For five or six years now, I swear I’ve been living in rags.  My clothes are quite thread bare!  But this year, I can’t walk into a clothing store without swooning!  Finally!  I bought three lightweight jackets, five shirts, and a scrumptious Fossil purse that I was petting the second I saw it.  Do you think I’ll look okay without shoes on my feet as long as the rest of me is dressed nicely?  LOL

Lots of time today zipping around in the Magster with the top down, a gorgeous day for it!  The more I drive her, the more pleased I am with my choice.  I’ve never owned a vehicle where you drive with your legs in the stretched out in front of you position, and let me tell you, is it fantastic on the knees!  My knees get terribly stiff when I drive for very long, but not in the Magster!  Of course getting in and out of her is a bit challenging, I’m still getting the hang of that!

I'm sure you'll look so spiffy in your new clothes that no one will notice if you're barefoot! :-) Shoes. I love them, but not many love me back these days. I need new tennies, too, but haven't tried looking yet.

Love that you and the Magster had a great day!

It is hard to find shoes that are comfy at times isn't it. I am lucky and most sneaker type of shoes fit me alright it is mainly dress shoes and clog type that I have the most problem with. I can normally find a pair of sneaker exercise shoes at Penney's for under $70 (Nike's or Adias) and they fit great and are comfy. Good luck with your search - sometimes you might find something in the least unlikely place - I at times have trouble finding sandals and this year I was looking through Wal-Mart one day at shoes (which I normally do not get there) and I found a pair of Dr. Schol's sandals that were so comfy I couldn't believe it - I spent about $25 and loved them all summer long and not one blister to be had!! Might not have been the most attractive but sure were comfy.

I suggest that you look for a Running Store. They also carry walking shoes and etc. You'll get the perfect fit. But I don't guarantee they'll be $150 or less. They'll fit and be comfortable though. Sorry can't help with clothes .... I hate clothes shopping.

I wound up buying quite a few clothing items this fall too, mostly for work. I'd still like to find a couple or three heavier sweaters to replace some that are ready to be demoted to "everyday."

Not sure I could even get into that little car...5'8" and "fluffy." And if I was shoe-horned into it, it would take a hoist to get me out!!!

I wear only Naot shoes and New Balance 927's. They have a lot of support built in. They correct oversupination (I walk on the outsides of my feet). I can't wear sandals at all. Sigh!

Hi CJ,

See if you have a Fleet Feet store in your area. I bought my last two pair of walking/running shoes from them and they were great. Before a friend recommended Fleet Feet I had trouble finding shoes for exercise/walking. Not anymore

Good luck

Glad you are finding clothes that you like. I go through spells where I'll buy quite a bit (from sale racks) and then won't buy a piece of clothing for over 6 months.

Too bad about the shoes. May I suggest that you just run around in your new car and visit drive thru windows. Who needs shoes?

We've got a great store here (Big Peach Running) where I went for my walking shoes. They are actually trail runners since my walk is on trails thru Kennesaw Mountain Nat'l Battlefield Park, but what a great fit. They use a special fit process where they use computer technology to determine your pronation(?) and...well, I don't understand it...but it worked and I feel like I'm walking on pillows. I would suggest you try a running store for a good fit on a walking shoe. Mine were $90+
Now, clothes is the big problem area for me--wonder if I have great fitting shoes, no one will notice if I don't have clothes :-)

I'm jealous of your fun in your Magster--I want a Corvette, but again...getting in and out?...!!

I will stick to quilts--they seem to fit best!!

My recommendation is to find a store that specializes in shoes for runners. There has to be one or two somewhere - you can ask at the local sports store. The one near me has absolutely saved my life (or at least my feet). Experienced, professional fitters who listen to what you want to do and what your issues are. They managed to find me shoes that feel better than anything I've worn in years! Don't worry if you're not a marathoner - they can still help (as I am living proof).
