Meet the "Magster"
Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 6:25AM Officially Magdelana. Nicknamed “Maggie”. Further hacked by me to the “Magster”. And here she is!
It’s rained since we brought her home, and I am still sick, so there’s been little joy riding. Jim and I drove over to Blackwell in the rain yesterday, top up sadly, to get more brandy so I could make more fruitcakes soon.
Notice my shiny, cheesy fuel door cover? Jim just rolled his eyes, but after we agreed on a price at the dealer, I said the deal was done as soon as they agreed to toss in the replacement chrome cover. LOL There are a few more modifications we are going to make to the car. See the gray roll bars behind the seats? Those will be replaced/repainted to match the exterior paint.
Jim is going to replace the rather pathetic horn with an airhorn, because was we quickly discovered driving home from Little Rock during rush hour… no one pays any attention whatsoever to such a little car… it’s like you’re not there. Hmmm… just like being on a motorcycle!
We’ll also be adding mud flaps. They’re stock and not really “flaps”, but extra molding sections factory painted to match the body that go around the wheel area. Cheaper to buy after market and Jim can install them. They’re part of the “appearance” package we opted not to get.
See my flying pig hanging off the mirror? That’s my co-pilot, she goes in every car with me, and I rely on her to navigate me safely! Better than furry dice any day!
Interior mods will include replacing some of the trim with wood, more of a classic look. I don’t care for any of the “silver” stuff inside, ugh. I might have to wait a year or two for that, it’s hard to find after market accessories until a car has been out a couple of years.
The top goes up and down in twelve seconds flat! Amazing! Today, SOME time, I am going to feel well enough to go for a spin!
My sewing machine does not fit into the trunk when it’s in the Bernina luggage bag. It just barely fits in the front seat. If I were to pack it in the simple canvas bag it came with, it fits in the trunk, and could be padded with pillows for safety.

Shame on you CJ. Seeing this BEAUTIFUL car just makes me want a mustang convertible again. lol I kind of put that bug on the back burner and decided to save money to buy and then I see your beauty.
Seriously, it is a great car and I can see you driving down the road with the top down and your hair blowing. Oh, you know you need some new rad sunglasses too, right? Congrats. I love it.
Pretty. Fancy!! Lucky you! I always said when I get all grown up, I'm going to have a 2 seater car--a seat for me, a seat for my purse. Congrats. :-)
OMG it is so beautiful!!! Congratulations and enjoy!! As long as you can get the Bernina in somehow that is all that matters!
Sweet little car.
Will this be parked in the garage next to your longarm? LOL It'll probably fit.
Congrats on your new ride. Beautiful color. You will love it! My brother has some "interesting" stories about driving his, dealing with trucks on the interstate. He has even done some amateur racing with it, after taking racing/driving classes of course...but don't tell our Mom :-) The instructors were really impressed with the handling.
Cool looking ride!! have fun playing with it. Sorry to hear it will be such a tight fit for the sewing machine!

Maggie is gorgeous!!!!!
If I drove in a place where I didn't fear for my life every day I would get one too. LOL
OMG!! She's gorgeous!! There's nothing that smells as good a s a new car!! But that smell is hard to find with the top down, huh?? Polly
Wow, CJ! She's beautiful! I'm sure your Bernina will love riding shotgun with you. ;)
CJ, She's beautiful. Hope you soon feel well enough to really enjoy the ride. Diane in CT
BEAUTIFUL! Gotta love little convertables! Hope you are feeling better so you can top down and enjoy!
She's gor-ge-ous!! Enjoy and be safe!! (the mom in me just has to say that!)
Hope you're finally feeling better!!!!!
What a beauty! I love that color.
Ohhhh--oooh! How "sweet"! and yes, I agree with the poster who mentioned that you need new shades to go with your new car! Luv the color! I bet it's fun to drive! Gosh, I hope you feel better soon, it's got to be bummer not being able to zoom around in your new wheels! Do you take your Bernie "out" a lot? Just wondering why the concern about getting it to fit in the car. I sew with two mini quilt groups and guild sew-ins, and twice a year retreats, but I have a small sewing machine that I take for those types of things. The Ellisimo is too heavy and too expensive to haul around. I even refuse to take it to Babylock classes anymore. It's not worth the risk of what could possibly happen to the touch screen or lighting on it.
I forgot to mention--luv the name "Magster" too!
Love the car, CJ! I'm sure it's a blast to drive. The color is one of my absolute favorites, too. Congratulations!
Love your new 'ride'! Have fun! I love sports cars, too!
