Design wall Monday

I don’t have anything up on my design wall yet, but I do have a project ready to go.  I made some changes to the baby quilt I was planning on starting… after printing out the pattern from EQ and seeing just how tiny the pieces for my chosen border were, I decided life was too short.  LOL

So it got an overhaul, and more than the borders changed.  I’m not even positive I like this very much, so I’m going to use all solid fabrics instead of the lovely florals I had picked out for it.

My fabrics are starched and ready to be pressed and cut out.  On Friday, my quilt group is hosting an all day sew in, and this is project I’m going to pack up and take along to work on.  I’ll be testing out the trunk space of the new Miata right away!  I’m pretty sure I can fit my Bernina 630 in it.  Hoping anyway!

Don’t forget to head over to Judy’s and see what everyone else is up to this Design Wall Monday!

Yesterday I narrowed the legs on two new pairs of pants, and hemmed them… one pair left to do.  We are in another major heatwave here in Arkansas, nearly the end of the September and it’s 100 degrees and dry as can be out there, ugh!

I’m off to the chiropractor this morning, and then I think I’m going to go take a tour of St. Mary’s Fitness Center in town.  I’m very seriously considering taking on a personal trainer and seeing how much youth I can restore to my aging body.  Hahaha!  Actually my chiropractor says I must start lower body strengthening or he’ll never be able to keep my spine lined up, my bathroom scale says I must start losing weight or break my promise to Jim that I would never be fat… and my new car says there’s not room inside for anything but tiny people!

20lbs would make my day, that shouldn’t be too hard to lose should it?  Uh huh…

Great pattern. The green you've choosen should really make it pop. I love bright quilts.

You aren't alone on needing the body maintenance program. I have 3 more weeks of physical therapy, then I'm off to the fitness center to work with a personal trainer. Mine is neck and shoulder related. Though, I have more than just 20 lbs that need to disappear. If you are considering doing some food journaling to help you get a handle on your diet, I recommend a site called "Spark People". It has great tracking tools for both diet and exercise. (http://www.sparkpoeple.com)My doctor recommended it to me.

Have a qreat week. Look foward to seeing your baby quilt on your design wall next week.

Life IS too short for overly fussy borders.
A sewing day sounds great.
The way you love to cook yummy food losing 20lbs could be tough. How does Jim feel about plain meat & salad? Good luck with it though.

I love the pattern. It is going to be beautiful.

I am feeling your pain about the heat. I am soooooo sick of 100 degree weather. We won't get down to the 80s for another couple of months.

I lvoe the looks of the "over-haul". I totally agree about borders with tiny pieces... life is too short, and my quilt to-do list is too long. The new design has lots of places where the quilting will really show when you use the solid fabrics... that will be great! We are in the 100s in LA, also. The calendar says "fall" will be here on Thursday... I have my doubts.

That's a design that will grow with the baby! Love the colors and design. Wish I had a Miata!

You can always strap your 630 in the front seat with a seat belt. LOL!!!

Good for you for heading to the fitness center. Before quilting, fitness was my life. I am trying to find balance with the time I have to fit in both. We can hit the iron together. (not the Rowenta kind of iron)

I joined a fitness club a week ago and love it. I started drinking EAS protine shakes twice a day and then meat and veg or salad for dinner. I lost 18# in 3 weeks. Having protine in the morning makes a big difference in how you will feel the rest of the day and you won't be as hungry to grab stuff on the run. Good luck to you. Love the colors of the new quilt.

Love the quilt. Ouch on the hot weather again. Just when you thought it was gone... but October's coming.

Food. Can't live without it, can't live with it. What a frustration. I, too, am trying to at least become aware of what I'm putting in my mouth! Turns out to be more than I thought. LOL

I started boxing about 4 months ago, never thinking my knees would hold up. But they did. And I have lost 20 lbs and am stuck. But I am REALLY getting musckles (like Popeye the Sailor Man) and love it.

glen: they say musckles weigh more than fat does......sigh..

You'll be amazed at how much better you feel working out in some manner. I haven't walked for about 2 months and started again. I can tell the difference in just a couple of days. Good luck! Do we get to see pics of the Miata?
