Scrappy Stars EQ7 file

I can’t always design a quilt in EQ first.  Sometimes I have to do it in fabric to begin with, and then I can draw it in EQ.  I guess I’m just not smart enough when the layouts are a bit more complicated! This quilt is a custom set, with the stars being large blocks, and all the little blocks are dropped in one at a time.  There’s probably an easier way to do this, but I don’t know it!

Of course I’m not usually thrilled with my first rendition, but that’s okay because from then on, I can computer generate any and all changes to the design.

Here’s how my first rendition of this quilt is going to look.  Very simple borders (for a change!) are going to complete this top.  It will finish at 55 x 55 inches.

I’ve uploaded my EQ7 project file for this quilt and am happy to share it, it’s a great use of scraps as it’s all made out of 2 1/2 inch squares and 2 1/2 inch half square triangles, and is very easy to piece.

Now if I’d have had more of the background fabric, this would have looked much nicer without all the blue.

You can get a general idea from the picture here on the right, I stopped and grabbed a shot partway through filling in all the squares.  I definitely will make this again, and play around with it some more.

I might get those borders on today if I’m good!  I hope you enjoy the project file.

I love it with the blue! And those borders will finish it off nicely. If you get it done and don't like it, just let me know and I'll send you my address. :-)

I liked the top picture of the quilt until I saw the one without the blue. I really, really like it. The stars seem to float. Are you planning to keep the file on your sidebar? I think I would love to make a full or queen size like it. After the holidays and all of my already planned projects are completed. Wait, that will probably be never so I'll just have to add it to my planned projects. lol Thanks CJ.

And I've been inspired from all the reading about quilts. I finally have the border on my (FIRST) baby quilt. I have put it together with the batting and the backing fabric. I have finished my stitch in the ditch and am ready to do some outline quilting with my embroidery module! I'll send a picture when I am done. Thanks for your inspiration.

I'm a simple border girl myself. Or maybe I'm just simple?? Yeah, that's it. :-) Looking forward to the finished project. I have just the spot for it! LOL
