On the horizon...

Is my next baby quilt design.  My original plan was to design patterns and sell them, but I’m not sure I have the knack to write the patterns.  My brain definitely leans towards the creative side, and is sorely lacking much in the logicall department.

This design came about by accident, but I absolutely love it!

On my design wall today I have some blocks I’m playing with.  They were born from the leftover backing on a recent quilt, basic black, and the remainder of my Moda Chocolate fabrics.

I have quite a bit of both the blue and the red floral left, but not a lot of the beige, which was the leftover backing fabric.

I like both blocks, the one on the right will obviously make a brighter and scrappier quilt, the one on the left will yield a larger quilt because it uses less of the beige background, which I only have about a yard and a half left of it.

While playing around with the idea in EQ7, the baby quilt took over and was born!

It's very nice CJ! Love the EQ border. I have EQ, but you know I never take time to play with it which is a shame---Your test blocks are really pretty too! Love the fabrics and the dark and light values. Are you going to do the EQ green version or do have another color in mind. I'm looking forward to seeing this project come to life!

Love the square with the blue. I can see it becoming a table topper for my 36" table on the back porch.

I love all of the colors! When I saw the larger square with the blue corners, I thought it would be great to use blue corners on the red one, but now that I see them both, the red corners are definitely best with the smaller squares. The blue still is great with the larger one, though. IMHO

Love those blocks! The baby quilt looks fun and fun and I really like the pieced border, but holy cow thats a lot of little pieces.
Have fun.

All the blocks look so good. Is that background more of the Chocolat line? If not, what is it? If I had that background fabric, I'd surely send it to you.

Do you have another beige print? Of similiar color and value and use them both. I have mixed backgrounds and when finished they look greeat.

I was playing EQ last night too -- funny, I had come up with something very similar -- but took that secondary block out and put in a whirly-gig something-or-other .. LOL
That border would be #!#!? to piece !

Those are gorgeous blocks!!! And I agree with Ann who suggested another print in the same color family. It would make it look a little more scrappy, but you'd be able to do it like you'd like.

Oh, CJ!!! I love it! And you know how I like bright colors, so the EQ rendering with that lime green just sucks me in! You are so talented!!

I know how your brain works, you can't leave it alone. What will you be embroidering in the centers of the baby quilt, LOL?
