I was SO very bad today!
Friday, September 10, 2010 at 6:29PM My friend Candy and I spent the day in Little Rock today. I honestly had no intention of buying a darn thing, I was just going along for the ride… oh and chocolate croissants from the Fresh Market, I forgot about those!
Clothes shopping? Ugh. I live in rags, I haven’t seen anything on the racks in quite a few years that appeals to me at all. We decided to check out Dillards in the mall, and weren’t in there for five minutes before I was oooohing and aaaaahing my way across the floor. Long tops, tunic style tops… are back in! yay! Oh and the shoes! It’s a good thing I’m fat, gray and have deformed feet, or I would have cleaned them out. Granny boots, seexxxxxxy pumps, yummy!
I know you can’t see these very well in the picture, but look at that gorgeous hemline on the beige top on the right, yum yum yum! The black shirt is below the hip as well, gauzy and the wild tunic over on the left… well I just had to have it. I also picked up a beautifully fitted black sweater (also below the hip) and well… let’s just say I won’t be doing any more fabric shopping this year!
We then went to a very nice shoe shop with a wonderful man from the deep south who had the most amazing drawl, and he was so funny! I don’t know if we spent more time teasing him, or him us, but we were there for probably two hours. I tried on some shoes, the brand was “Finn Comfort”, made in Germany, that were incredibly comfortable, only just just a smidge too narrow, and to the relief of my wallet, I passed on those.
We had lunch at a Mexican restaurant across the street from Williams Sonoma, and it was SO good! I had a shrimp enchilada that was just to die for.
I was tempted to leave my purse in the car when we went into Williams Sonoma, I cannot resist a good
kitchen store! Nor did I! I’ve been eyeballing the All-Clad 6 quart saute pan for months now, but they had this wonderfully deep 4 quart pan that I’m pretty sure I would get more use out of, and it was on sale.. a big sale! And who could resist those adorable matching little measuring cups and spoons?
Last on our route was the Fresh Market.
Being totally stuffed from lunch, I didn’t really get much. A yummy loaf of Ciabatta bread, more of those incredible cheeses I bought last time, one is cranberry studded and the other is decadent layers of ground walnuts and gourmandise… I had them box up four chocolate croissants and four almond paste filled ones… do you think Jim and I will gain a few pounds this weekend?

where is the Fresh Market - it sounds very familiar and I am sure I have seen it - the chocolate croissants sound wonderful I must stop there the next time I am in Little Rock. I don't do clothes shopping much anymore either but love the tops, sometimes I find good sales in Dillards and sometimes not. Love Williams Sonoma but do not buy often, everything is so pricey but now and then I splurge. We saw the Mexican restaurant across the way but neither of us are that much into Mexican food so didn't try it.

We have Dillards here in Phoenix. (many of them) I buy quite a bit of clothing there! And Finn shoes....I have two pair that I bought when I had PF. They were great plus the fact that you can just buy the insert when one wears down and have new shoes for aobut $60 (I haven't done that yet) Williams Sonoma is a very hard store to leave without a shopping bag filled with goodies. My next purchase there will be a crepe pan. We have at least four of those stores to choose from! Good thing there wasn't a Crate and Barrel in the area. That's another hard store to leave without purchases!
Love the tops. I love tunics as well.
When you buy multiples like the cheeses, do you freeze one?
Cute tops. Always fun to find our favs in our color choice.
Have fun.
Oh wait, you just did! :D
Fun stuff!! I can usually pass on clothes, too, but never a kitchen shop!
Our son just moved to near Denver and I am so excited that I will finally get to see a Whole Foods!!! More excited to see him, of course, but excited!!!! :-)
I'm with you, CJ, in liking the longer tops. Too many of the styles I see any more or way to short on the bottom & too low-cut on the top. I really don't need to have both my belly & my boobs hanging out for all the world to be frightened by. LOL Sadly though, I've also noticed that the manufacturers are making pants shorter again. I'm 5-8, with long legs so now the longer tops will cover my belly but my ankles will stick out. Can't win.
I love DIllard's!! Especially when they have a sale- and their sales are really SALES. That is the only place I can get slacks - dress & casual - that actually fit and don't give me a wedgie!! The Allison & Dailey brand is their "house" brand" and has great outfits.
I love those tunics. What do you wear under them?
I think there is a Dillards near me--I'll have to check it out. I never clothes shop because I am so short and wide--pants always too long and I hate hemming...and most of the tops are too teenagey and too close fitting. I love wearing tunics even if they do tend to make me look shorter...they are just so darn comfortable!

Karen,
I am in the same "shape" (or lack of) as you. I can try on a pair of the Dillards slacks and they feel like comfy old sweats to me. FYI --- try the regular slacks, even though they may need to be shortened as they seem to fit better than the "petite" size in the same style.
You've given me hope! I hate shopping when all the tops are too short. It's been that way for years. Maybe I'll go shopping soon. Love the shirts you got.
