You love me a lot right?
Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 1:38PM If you pick up the phone and your mother is on the other end giggling and asking how much you love and adore her, RUN! It’s guaranteed not to be pretty!
Alas I’m a sucker and have caved to the sugary sweet request to hem not one, not two, but FIVE pairs of pants tomorrow! And it’s not like my Mom lives next door, she’s 195 miles away, but wants these pants asap. Now, my Mom has her own sewing machine… so your guess is as good as mine!
I returned hippy pair shoes one, because I thought they felt just a tad too short. But I was speaking with a friend last night on the phone who informed me that we have a shoe store here in town that carries Berkenstocks, and that they were having a 20% off sale, so that’s where I spent my morning!
I tried them all on. Not one of these are the same size, so I probably won’t be able to mail order any Berkenstocks. But I’m so happy to have three pairs of very comfy shoes!
And when I got home, the mail had come… and look what was in the mail! Not
the book, I picked that up at Hobby Lobby. I have a hankering to make another afghan for the house, as the two I have permanently reside in the RV… I digress… that’s why I was at Hobby Lobby. Anyway, the new #46C presser foot from Bernina! This foot looks so cool, I had to have it.
It sews a double row of pintucks, 9mm’s apart, then rides over those pintucks during a 2nd pass, and sews down a row of decorative stitches, perfectly centered between the tucks.
This foot will be available in a 5.5mm width soon as well.
Oh and no I didn’t get any yard, but I found the colors I want and will order it online.

CJ, I've been wearing Berkies for decades. You'll really love them after they get wet and mold right to your foot. My new fav shoes are the Sketcher sandles. They are fabulous for arch support and are like walking on pillows. I also got a pair of the rounded bottom ones that tighten up your butt and legs. They really work. I wear those on my walks. Go try the Sketchers, you'll love them. Hilary
I was in Little Rock today and just bought the Sketcher Shape Ups today! They are so comfy - I saw the sandals and thought I might need to get those too. Hope the shoes are comfy for you - what did the doctor ever say was wrong with your foot - I think I missed a post when we were near home traveling - I know you were going to the doctor for it.
I have looked at the French Braid book for several years and still have not gotten it! I need to one day.

I'm gonna love that 46C foot. I do lots of pintucks and dec stitches.
Wow! 3 pair--you are set for a while! Berkenstocks are great!

If none of these shoes work, you might try Joseph Seibel shoes. They are from Germany. I teach school and am on my feet a lot. Then I developed heel spurs, and I must say they are excruciating! Every step felt like knives in my heels. I even had surgery, but the spurs grew back. Anyway, that's when I found Joseph Seibel shoes. Wearing anything flat was dreadful because it put too much pressure on my heels. Joseph Seibel shoes are elevated and come in different styles. My favorites are Carole mules. I wouldn't recommend the Marcela mules as the heel is just different enough that it isn't that comfortable. You can find them at Nordstroms (can order) and at Zappos and probably a million other places too. Anyhow, this is just an idea to file away. Now, I can teach all day and my feet don't hurt.
I don't know if you remember me or not, but just wanted you to know that I just talked to your mother at the local grocery store on Tuesday. I told her I kept up with you by reading your blog!! Your blog about the pants hemming reminded me of a joke I read the other day that said "Asking a quilter to mend was like asking Michaelangelo to paint your garage". I guess we would add EXCEPT WHEN IT'S YOUR MOTHER!!! ha ha
I am having a hard time understanding how the 46 foot makes two pintucks 9mm apart at the same time.
